More depth behind the Imperial legion

Thank you for all those who are reading this request.

The imperial legion in skyrim is incredibly disapointing when it comes to certain missions and combat mechanics.

Here are a list of issues I'd like seen adressed:

  • How are they a "legion" when the most I see on screen is around 15. Needs more men/woman on screen
  • They have no tactics at all when it comes to fighting, they just fight like every other NPC. Would be nice to see them atleast huddle together and charge in rank and file.
  • Lack of officers in a professional army? Should be at least one officer for every group of legionaries.
  • The vast majority of them wear light armor, could someone outfit the entire legion in heavy armor? It would make the legion look ridiculously awesome.
  • As a legate, shouldn't I have some kind of authority over the legion eg. Have 10 come along with me as companions?
  • Nothing to do after the questline, surely someone could create a dynamic quest loop for the legion, like raid forts or fight in open battlefields.
  • NO CHRYSAMERE???? NO LORD'S MAIL??? After all I've done for the legion I get a crappy enchanted glass sword?

Look at the sheer awesomeness of a cape, every legate should have a cape! Including the player. Could someone also make an armor mod to add in the cape?

If someone could make one or more of these changes to add depth to the legion, it would surely make general Tullius happy and less painful to deal with.

I think the depth of the factions and their interactions is a major issue; it seems to have been almost totally ignored. Which really is a shame for a game that uses a civil war and the intrigues between noble families as its setting. Even if it doesn't amount to anything, it's the kind of stuff the game should present you with, very frequently. It's not just the Legion, it's endemic to the whole game. I'm still in the middle of the exploring part of my first playthrough, so I really don't mind that much right now, but after all is said and done, this sadly seems to follow the line of great Bethesda sandbox game where you're really ending up not doing all that much in the sandbox.

And that's what infuriates me with Bethesda: this sort of... half-assedness. I would understand it if the game engine couldn't handle it. But if the long history of modding BethSoft's games has shown one thing then it's that the engines can handle that sort of stuff, and very well so!

It's not just the Legion: your actions should have tangible consequences for the world!

NPC comments are fine, but your impact should be greater than that. Thoughts about this issue always bring me back to Oblivion. There was this one side quest where you were asked by a bunch of settlers to help them with two goblin tribes in the region, and if you did and later came back to the settlers, you'd see the changes you affected (twice, I think) in so far that their tents were replaced by farms and farm land and the like.

So far, what little I cared for in Skyrim, these changes haven't happened. Sure, I'm the Thane of Falkreath and stuff, but neither can I influence decisions there, nor do the people care. For that matter, something should happen with those dragon skeletons I leave behind. One's right in the town square of Falkreath and nobody notices or cares. Things don't change. Towns and villages don't change. People don't change. Skyrim is far better than Oblivion in general, but in that regard it seems to be your typical Bethesda game: they built a great sandbox and left it at that.

Ebony and Daedric armor are hard to make, good luck finding 50 daedra hearts lol. Wheres the immersion? might as well not give me the rank at all.

Stratomunchkin you are right, the dark brotherhood sends you after nobodies after the main arc, the thieves guild makes you rob people of items that not many people care about, the college of winter-hold flat out doesn't have anything to do after the main arc(at least nothing I know of), and finishing the main story line doesn't make me nearly as appreciated as when I was the nerevarine in morrowind.

Progression through factions is very unrealistic, Oblivion in my opinion had near perfect pacing of quests, do a couple of jobs to earn my rank in between main missions, but in Skyrim they throw you straight into a main quest arc and you are finished withing 2-3 hours feeling not that accomplished and very disappointed it ended so soon.

For more legionary fighters on screen i'd recommend "Warzones Civil Unrest," bear in mind that this mod was/is known to be notoriously glitchy and also adds more fighters to every other enemy/military faction group, as opposed to just the legion, as-well as being performance heavy.

I have some recommendations, however, does not fit the game thematically for the legion, the other i'm not sure if it's "heavy" in regards to your perception of heavy.
