Did you kill Paarthurnax?

I'm being told by the Blades lady that I should kill Paarthurnax. But I can't for two reasons...I really like Paarthurnax and the way he speaks and doing so would really make the Greybeards angry at me, which I don't want because I think they're a cool bunch of old guys hanging out up in a mountain cave, meditating. It'd be like killing Buddhist monks "Buddha" or something. There's something that's just so wrong about that.

How about you? Did you kill Paarthurnax?

I haven't gotten there in the main quest, but I'm not going to kill him.

I'm torn. Because he himself admits that dragons are hard wired to want to take over and are naturally evil. Even one of the quotes while the game loads is something to that effect. I can't remember it's exact wording, though.

But I really don't want to lose the Greybeards as friends. Just to see what would happen, I killed him and went back to the Greybeards and the main guy, I forget his name, I'm not good with names...he actually started yelling at me and wouldn't even look at me, told me to get out. Me cries!!!! :(

And when I spoke with the Blades woman, she was like "oh, I knew you wouldn't let us down" and then I find out...there are only two people left in the Blades....what? Well, I decided I didn't want her to push me around so I reloaded a saved game before killing him.

Plus, staying friends with the Greybeards gives you quests where to find new shouts. Keep going back to the main Greybeard guy, his name starts with A..and ask him about a new power word and he'll give you a quest to go find a new one. Aces! That works for me.

I believe he's done a lot of good since betraying Alduin, helping men overpower him. There's justice and there's redemption. I couldn't kill him. Besides he's awesome. Why support two genocidal blades when you can support a heroic dragon!

I didn't kill him, if those two want to sulk about it then that's fine, it's not like they matter any more.

I really, really dislike Delphine she's a cow. Esbern is OK but even he's not that nice.

I agree. Can't do it. However, I'm about to launch another character, and I hope to make many choices I didn't this time.

Well, Delphine is hardly a cow. She's really skinny. I liked her at first and thought she was cool.

But I started not liking her when she invited herself into the peace council and was disrespectful to the Greybeards. For some reason, I was highly offended by that.

I missed it at first because initially I just flew in, spoke to the Greybeard guy and sat at the table for the meeting. I didn't stop to listen to the conversation between them. Luckily the meeting was so complicated for me I had to keep doing it over and over again to decide what to do because I didn't know whose side I liked. I actually believed the side for the Storm troopers was for the Blades. I didn't understand that the Blades were there separately from the Storm Trooper dudes. It helps to pay attention and be patient in the game, I've learned and I speak for myself. I'm not preaching to anyone.

But after seeing how she spoke to the Greybeards disrespectfully in their own domain and basically taking credit for starting me on the path of fighting dragons..that's not how I remembered it...I realized she was someone who I'd have to watch my back with.

Esbern doesn't bother me much. He seems really passionate about wanting this dragon problem to be done and away with and I love just listening to him jabbering away about it. He's very knowledgeable in that way so that's one of the reasons why it makes me second guess not killing Paarthurnax. Esbern really seems to know what he's talking about with the history of the dragons and he urges me to kill him. I worry I'm going to regret not killing him because he'll turn on me later on. And Delphine is right when she says it seems the Greybeards are afraid of power. Through the course of the main quest...I wondered, why weren't they out there helping with the dragons but they seem content to let things play out as they need to according to the bigger picture where it's not just in the interest of mankind or something. At least that's the impression I got.

 

But I loved it when Paarthurnax said that the ending of this world could be the birthing of a new one and how did I feel about stopping the birthing of a new world. Of course I basically said I didn't give a crap about the new world, I cared more about the one I was living in but it was very philosophical for him to say that and it made me think. Not for long, but it was a short meditative insightfulness I enjoyed.

This is the stupidest quest, we should be allowed to kill the last two remaining blades as an alternative. Delphine and Esbern, I'd happily kill them in a second before I killed Paarthurnax.

Yea. I didn't mind Delphine and Esbern until they told me I had to kill him. Without him, we 'supposedly' wouldn't have been able to defeat Alduin. He seems a better and stronger ally against future evils than two old fogies.
