Darktrooper117
Pretty self explanatory. I don't know which messed up value is causing the problem, but I for one am sick of having a monsoon inside my glass-roofed facility every time a storm occurs. I don't have Contraptions on PC or I would find the cause and fix it myself, because it's really bugging me.
Ethreon
It's an engine feature. Enjoy it.
Darktrooper117
I assume the same goes for the obnoxious "randomly stops animating forever/perpetual running noises" bugs that plague Contraption's conveyor belts?
Ethreon
No clue. Those are probably baked in the hkx file, and we barely started decoding that (as in, people smarter than me :P). There are high hopes though, so maybe someone fixes those. As for the glass, it probably has something to do with the transparency.
Perraine
I have noticed that sometimes (and only sometimes) if you place a roof (any roof) in an area that is "normally" open to the sky, the game will not always recognize that it's now covered, so you have to zone out and zone back in for the game to update itself. This happened to me when I added some roof parts to the top floor of Abernathy Farmhouse. At first the rain kept coming through as always, but eventually the game realized that their was a roof up there. I have noticed that if wearing power armor, regardless of whether you are indoors or outdoors, I always get the raindrops on the visor, but at least the "rain" doesn't poor down "inside' buildings. My biggest issue is not so much the rain coming down, but the that every damn thing gets "wet" whenever it rains, regardless of whether it's inside or outside. and those damn mud puddles everywhere! There is even one in the middle of the "General's Quarters of the Castle FFS! And the above mentioned Abernathy Farm turns into a swamp whenever it rains. despite the fact the fact that I've replaced all the floor, and walls ... Soooo un-immersive :)
Darktrooper117
I caved and switched over to the "Summer" plugin for Vivid Weathers. It's a shame that exterior structures are so bad at dynamically blocking weather effects. I had dust storms raging in my bedroom, and it's basically a hermetically sealed box. dpsampson
I don't get it. Isn't it possible to just have a standalone copy of all the various rain-blocking roofs with transparency in the texture files and other obvious glass-like texture art added with frames and what-have-you??? Come on! Wouldn't that then essentially be the same thing as a regular good-ole rain-blocking roof but just with the added transparency? Not really sure off the top of my head but I think the ammount of transparency couold be set in such a way that it wouldn't just look like a hole in the roof with no water coming through it. LOL Would that work??? Not sure how that would handle sunlight though... but then ligh goes through walls in FO4 already anyway. I think people at bethesda might benefit from some sort of ADD medication to help them see things through ALL the way to the end when they start doing something - or a palm strike in the face. b&@*$ slap? If it is an outside cell, there is going to be rain. There is no way to fix it.
Ethreon
I think you missed the part where transparency is what tells the engine to let the rain pass thru. Edited January 22, 2018 by Ethreon
chucksteel
just an FYI there is an audio marker that can stop the rein but, it can't be used for crafting it's like a collision box. It's a primitive so not craftable example is why rain doesn't fall inside of the Red Rocket. Many vanilla open world cells have these.
