exnecross
I've looked around the net for awhile and never found a real answer. I've used blacksmithing elixers and didn't see any difference in the result. How does this improve upon the armor you create? For me, the stats stay the same. Does this only effect what is upgraded on a grindstone/workbench? To follow up on that, is it safe to create the items without using the elixer? 100 blacksmithing of course. AltreU
It has to be a pretty big bonus to do anything. Make some enchanted smithing gear if you can and try to stack the bonuses with the potions to see results.
exnecross
Yes but my question was does it effect the armor being created (using an anvil to initially make the armor) or does it only effect improving upon the item on a workbench or grindstone? AltreU
Ah, it only affects the quality of your upgrades, not the initial stats of created weaponry. You can make some insanely powerful stuff by using those bonuses.
Gishank
It only effects improving the item. I've noticed however that you can't improve an item and have it enchanted (sadly).

AltreU
You can if you have the perk for it or have a high enough smithing level. I've got capped smithing and plenty of uber armor and weapons.

I'm really hoping a mod that allows improving existing enchants will be released.
AltreU
I'm cautious about what I enchant. Just be patient and make sure you have back up gear to enchant.

I'm sure a mod will be released though in due time.
