Guys who play girl characters

You do support my main point that people can play both genders as a rich and fulfilling experience. As for the people who have a character all dolled up in covergirl make up to levels of absurdity and seem to do nothing but pose for screenshots they then photoshop them to hell and back? I think that is a outlet for creativity for them and whether anyone of us agrees with it or understands it is irrelevant as it is their thing and they are entitled to do it. The other group that gets flak here are the people that "sex" their game up as I really have no other word for a tiny plastic looking Asian girl in a ball gag prostituting themselves out to frost trolls. I can honestly say I don't have the same sympathy for those people like I do the "screenshotters" and I do find it creepy but like I said, to each their own... I just won't shake their hand unless they wash it first.

I think what you and I have here are something like parallel perspectives...looking for the same thing, taking different paths as such....I certainly do like realism in my game, such as I personally don't find the heavy armors realism friendly, no-one could run around in steel plate, etc...when a medieval knight fell off his horse, he couldn't stand back up without help, let alone running around on foot swinging his heavy sword at anything that moved....at the opposite end of the spectrum are the modded revealing armors designed to cover everything but their bits.... :whistling: ....The most realism friendly would be the light armors....both the vanilla and if they are to be revealing, then revealing either the chest (male and female) or pretty much everything (think historical barbarian hordes fighting in their birthday suits, I am assuming a no fear message was meant to be sent in that).

As for my own Dovahkin....he is clean (he bathes), though I would love to find a mod in which when he is covered in blood during battle the blood does not just disappear but stays until he moves through water...that would make me very happy... .... I also use the Apachii Dreadlocks, aside from a shaved head and Mohawks the Dreadlocks seem the most realistic to me...they are not shiny and sheeny looking and my personal bug with the vanilla hair, neither are they neatly cut into a neat fanned line in the back....as I RP a Barbarian Warrior, the Dreadlocks fit his story perfectly, as so he is also pierced, oiled, facial tattoo (I RP the War Paints as facial tattoos, makes more sense to me as they don't come off) and wears little....Oh and designed to be handsome of course... ...but is not a pretty boy, more so the rugged, rough look happening.

The female NPC's in my game do not wear make up...if there were prostitutes in the game, I would want them wearing make up....but any other female wearing make up would make no sense and look odd....I also use a body mod that allows a diversity of shapes (breasts.hips) among the women...Would love for someone to come out with extended weights mod for town and farming NPC's...some over weight, etc....

I have no interest in the Manga, etc...whatever they call it either....the out of this world armors, women with penis's, etc...

I do personally also use a sex mod though...once again realism...I have no interest in a bonking fest for my Dovahkin...his sexual contact is RP'ed also, it has to make sense and feel realistic in circumstance, etc...I simply play a man who slays, eats, sleeps, drinks (sometimes though rarely to drunken-ness) and has sex when opportunity presents itself....that is simply what feels real and immersive to me.

You and I are both looking for a story that feels real and right...keeps us immersed in our games with as few WTF moments as possible and that's how we enjoy Skyrim...Others want pure fantasy, or out of this world kinds of experiences or straight out beauty as you have mentioned....so long as everyone is enjoying their Skyrim creations, all's good....

You and I pretty much have the same mindset when it comes to our games. I like realism and can suspend it when it comes to magic and heavy armors like Daedric and Dwarven that are so heavy to the point of being silly as that is just part of the established lore. I can also do some revealing armors that make sense like shirtless barbarians and don't mind nudity or sex if it is done tastefully or seems fitting in the situation like you described. An example is the Witcher 2 literally starts with a sex scene and boobs and bonking are thrown around like it is going out of style in that game yet it never takes away from the story and it remains one of my favorite games of the past few years.

The things I can't stand is manga or anime style mods that look completely out of place in Skyrim, technology that is out of place, modern clothing, and supermodel males & females. I don't personally have any sex mods but I have no problem with other people using them. Where it gets creepy I think is things like rape, transgender, monsters, sex toys, or when someones game is modded with the sole intention of fapping. I must throw in the "To each his own" again as if they want to do that kind of thing they are entitled to go about it. I don't think it is a stretch to say we all like sex and anyone who says they never looked at porn or "relieved some stress" is a f***ing liar. However when the internet is already 20% porn devoting that kinda time to design Skyrim with that single purpose is odd to me at the very least.

Back to the original topic though. There are all these demographics of people that play all kinds of genders and races for various reasons and because of one loud or strange demographic the whole lot get thrown in this "You play characters other than your gender? You must be some drooling lecher." group.

I'd just like to add something: After installing a race mod that lets me make male characters who are actually halfway attractive, I'm still disappointed - while the girls have good postures, my male character stands like a gorilla with his arms out and shoulders hunched, and even with the weight sliders on minimum, putting on any armor makes his torso look bulky and his head too small.

So, yeah. Until someone makes a mod that lets me make a slender dude with a posture that isn't painful to look at, I'll stick to playing women.

Mostly, I play with female characters. Females because I just... I just love to see a girl smashing a bunch of frost trolls and being badass and sexy/beautiful at the same time (But, of course, when I mean "sexy/beautiful", I mean REALISTIC/LORE FRIENDLY sexyness/beauty, not a bunch of unrealistic "armors that aren't armors at all", "Barbie dolls" and "Smoothy faces". But, if you like something unrealistic/unlorefriendly, you are entitled to your own opinion).

I still play with male characters, but I like to make them two-handed tanks or heavy battlemages.

unrealistic... "Smoothy faces".

I agree with most of that, except I do run a facial smoother just to remove some of the distracting angles from the rendering. It works on the NPCs too, though. One of my favorites was a cute skinny little Breton chick with Volendrung, just to accentuate the size discrepancy. Also clothes to smooth out the body disproportion.

I'm a guy. I play girl charactors in Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas in part because I like looking at girls. I have installed nude skins for both Skyrim & F:NV. I enjoy looking at the female body.

In gameplay, though, my girl charactors do not go into battle half-naked or dressed in chainmail bikinis or the like, because I have a wierd fixation:

I dig babes that kick butt in REAL armor.

In Skyrim, my first female charactor wears vanilla heavy armors (pity Daedric Armor didn't stop a Volkihar Vampire from decapitating her); after searching Skyrims Nexus like mad for a light armor mod I'm happy with, my last active charactor settled on the Mystic Elven Armor mod.

In Fallout: New Vegas, my main female charactor settled for the modded Stealth Suit from The Legacy of X-13 and I love having her butcher Caesar & his Praetorians with a Fire Axe (and brought Boone along to have him give the smug "Thumbs down, you son of a *censored*!")

Well, there is a limit between a realistic smooth face (There ARE beautiful woman in Skyrim, and female warriors can still maintain a good appearance) and a Barbie doll smooth face. So, "Smoothy faces" doesn't apply to your case :D

Speaking of which, my hubby and I have a theory on people who choose to turn these games into porn fests...a lot of people do comment on sex mod threads..."Go watch some porn instead"....and so I got to thinking about what's going on there and yakked with hubby....When a person watches pornography they are simply viewing, no interaction possible, they are watching another persons story....but with these games, they are in control of the story and the circumstances, no matter how bizarre or far out there it has become their own story, the one they direct, they are more involved and that's what's appealing to them.....That's our theory anyway....

I am currently attempting to learn how to mod armor...want to mod the male light armor as I am not that content with either the vanilla or current reveal mods out there for males...I would like something that would more so fall somewhere in between the two...when I finally make that happen (I know very little about computers, me and technology...tech-no-logic.... ...) I actually wouldn't mind hearing your honest opinion on it given your views.

You mention 'rape' also....though I am of course very opposed to it in RL, in the game I would not be actually opposed....The why?....Realism in the kind of world Skyrim depicts....Bandit's are not nice (those I would see as the most common instigators) and I would imagine they would take full advantage over a subjugated other (victim)....No, I would not like my Dovahkin raped, he would much rather die than be subjected to such, I am just looking at this from a realism perspective....slavery also (Mistwatch already touches slightly on that)....as I also see room in the game for some of the more basic sex toys, realistically speaking....As for the monster sex, women with penis's, manga, my little ponies, modern clothing, guns, cars, etc....they don't fit and a very 'lore', 'realism' unfriendly....The world of magic feels right and it fits...manga, ponies, etc...are for the lovers of extreme fantasy, not for me.

Back on topic....I have been very surprised myself that playing the opposite gender in games seems to be such an issue to so many people (actually I am guessing just a very vocal few)...I would not have guessed it if I hadn't seen such threads...I am late to the gaming world, am in my early forties and have only been gaming for the last four years....so still playing catch up on the culture.

I personally think the arms out on the bulkiest males looks about right, though the hunched shoulders I dislike.....but on the women and the thinner men the arms out looks ridiculous....There is a mod out there that brings their arms in...not a race mod, it's an across the board mod....I tried it out because it was only meant to effect the females and thinner males and they certainly looked a whole lot better...unfortunately though it also effected my max weight slider male Dovahkin and it did terrible things to him.... :pinch: .... :ohdear: ....looks good on the thin, but it made him look 'mincing'....such a pity, was a good mod otherwise.

I play as both male and female characters. It partly depends on aesthetics and visuals of the game I am playing as sometimes certain races and genders just look plain bad. I also tend to have a mindset for my characters when I make them and some times it is a rugged male soldier of fortune, back woods hunter, etc. and other times it is a pretty young woman turned vengeful assassin or sorceress. I don't full blown role play my characters but I still have a general theme and sometimes that theme involves the character being female. I am also a big time lore and immersion tard so my characters look the part for the game they are in (dirt, scars, knappy hair, etc.) I do make my characters somewhat "pretty" or "handsome" but I don't doll them up with modern cosmetics, hair, and clothing. For example I have a Female Nord Ranger type character and I do have mods and some "slider fu" that makes her easy on the eyes but she has no make up, scar on her face, plain hair in a practical ponytail, and is in full practical leather armor and mail. She is beautiful by medieval harsh life standards not 2012 downtown LA I work at Starbucks and just had a boob job standards.

I think the topic though was more aimed at the people with supermodel like characters and play exclusively them. To each there own I say. However if I were to analyze it from my point of view I would say they are mostly female players and they see the game as more of an artistic expression. They find the female figure more appealing in its form as most of us do regardless of gender or sexual orientation and I don't want to say dress up per say as that sounds insulting but they get their "fun" (<--- vague abstract word I hate using) from expressing creativity upon a virtual avatar. I am sure some people are just drooling creeps but it is unjust to throw people in that camp unless you really know them.

I wouldn't say that myself....as a woman I find the male body much more beautiful and attractive than the female body...thus why I guess I am physically attracted to men, not women.... ...I play a male Dovahkin for two reasons, yup, I like looking at him (am a third person player, I have never been able to play in first person, I find it very disorientating)...and I like the whole big strong hero kinda deal.

And I disagree with above poster Nathanj, just because I as a female play a male and in third person doesn't make me less inclined to RP....He has a detailed back story, as distinctive a personality as the dialogs,etc...allow, a firm moral code...he eats twice a day, drinks regularly (I use a mod that offers more than just alcohol), he sleeps reasonable hours every night, bathes, never fast travels, doesn't swig a potion mid sword swing....and this is all done without mods enforcing it....I'm RP'ing him.

I think I just fell in love with you.

I used Frostfall, TRO, Scenic Carriages, only fast travel with carriages. :D

You aren't really disagreeing with me though. Are you playing yourself or just RPing someone else. I would love it if Shephard had to repair his gear and when he was on the ship you could eat at the galley for some buff of some kind...........but it would still be Shephard and not me. You have to make the distinction between RPing you yourself or RPing an avatar. When I play my Orc guy even though it is in first person I have to put myself into the mindset of an Orc. Thankfully that is very easy because every possible issue that comes up can be solved with my two handed warhammer. :D When I played an Altmer I always picked the snidest remarks because everyone knows that Altmer are conceited jackasses. When I play myself as one of the human races I make the decisions that I myself would make. Even my goody goody gumdrops Paladin is fairly mercenary as I always push for rewards first when they pop up in the dialogues......why? Because that is how I would be in real life. I am NOT going into that dungeon until I know exactly what I am getting for a reward and if possible I want half up front. :P
