Daedric Weapons

Can daedric weapons be found as loot? I'm level 43 and all I've found so far is arrows for sale at the fletcher in Solitude. I'd really like a daedric bow, but I haven't worked on my smithing at all and while I could easily get it to 100, I'd rather not spend the points on smithing perks just to craft one weapon.

they aren't simply passed off as bandit loot as far as I know. Which is better in my opinion, it always felt weird when all bandits suddenly had daedric armor in oblivion.

I would however still suggest that you invest in the smithing perks. Its actually a really overpowered tree since you can improve all your items stats considerably.

Yes you will find Daedric weaponry (and armor) in chests/corpses/quest rewards. I didn't start seeing any until about 50ish late 40s perhaps. I even got one as a quest reward from General Tullius. You could also have it at 90 blacksmithing, however, so if you want it just buy hearts and make some.

Smithing is extremely potent btw, its a wise perk investment. My Daedric bow does about 96 base damage (160 w/ my perks), and that's not even close to the max. I think if you really went all out with enchanting/alchemy bonuses you could get something in the 250s (w/perks and +archery). I would recommend at least smithing for all character builds, and probably enchanting up to double enchants on the center path. I think its 6? perks to go straight for Daedric (don't bother with upgrade-enchanted-item if you're trying to save points, and the left side of the Blacksmithing constellation is only marginal at best). You can find enough +smithing gear randomly and buy +60% smithing potions if you don't want to bother with enchanting and alchemy to maximize your gear.

Smithing is the easiest way to get em, once you have the perk. And must echo earlier post-Smithing is, imo, VERY useful. At low levels as a toon I was wading through mobs. It is *quite* satisfying to go toe to toe with a giant when they used to pound you into the sand in the beginning. =)

And the enchanting kinda goes hand in hand with smithing. As I wander around I get raw materials which I then make into something valuable....then sell for pure profit. It is also *quite* satisfying to see that pile of coin that I have made through my own efforts and to know that when I want to get a house or mount or whatever, I can just buy it with all the trimmings and not sweat the cost. I have only gotten Daedric items if I made em and also through quests, not as drops....at least, yet. I have stumbled upon 3 artifacts so far: the Star, the ebony blade, a heavy helm, oh, guess its 4 because last night I came across a village that needed help and got this big fookin hammer. Too bad I don't have 2H skills yet. Cool lookin tho!! (sorry at work and cant recall names of em all atm)
