radiumskull
3DS Max 2013, Bethesda NIF plugin installed. I may have unchecked a box someplace in the process, but my NIFs had geometry before, and now they have none. Even trying to export a simple Editable Poly box yields an empty NIF file. With or without Elrich applied. Anyone have any clues as to why? Edited August 19, 2016 by radiumskull
Ethreon
Give it a BSLightningFX material.
radiumskull
The one I'm wrestling with is based on an FO4 vanilla NIF, so it already has a BSLighting FX shader applied.
Ethreon
Have you tried though? Assign it in max 2013 I mean.
robboten
how can it have a material assigned already? Do u use the nif-import plugin? If so it does not add the right material file. So u have to change it!
slevin92
hum interesting. I have the bethesda nif exporter too and like you, it doesn't export anything. I didn't know it was only because of an improper lightning effect. Thank you
Ethreon
Yea, the imported nifs will not have a working material.
robboten
shared my material file for buildings here if anyone is interested. U may have to change the paths or so. But it's a start. https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/4777295-material-libraries-3ds-max/
radiumskull
how can it have a material assigned already? Do u use the nif-import plugin? If so it does not add the right material file. So u have to change it!Call me crazy, but I just did the following: 1. Start 3DS Max 20132. Import 'Gen2Mech.nif' from the vanilla Meshes3. Launch the Material Browser4. Use the 'Pick Material from Object' eyedropper to select one of the NIF objects Notice that it shows up as a 'Fallout 4 Shader' with all the info there. I didn't set any of that up, it came in with the NIF import. http://i.imgur.com/kqdwUaT.png @Ethreon, are you meaning I should build new Fallout 4 Shaders from scratch and not base them on the NIF info? That seems tedious.
Ethreon
Yes. In 2013 you should not pick from object, it won't work. You need to build it from scratch.
