xlr8films
Anybody have any good spoiler tips (aside from the console) for fast-levelling Destruction? I've tried summoning a Fire Atronach and then killing it with Ice Bolts but it seems to take forever. Also, in the wiki here: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Destruction_%28Skyrim%29 it claims, "Jump up and down repeatedly in/on a Blacksmith's Forge" will help.... wth?? I tried this and nothing.... Other than running around flaming the local wildlife, I can't find a better way. Any ideas?
Vagrant0
Get some enchanted gear that makes destruction spells cost little or nothing, then use lower ranked spells when clearing locations. Firebolt/Ice Spike are probably better since you can use the staggering perk to keep enemies from attacking you. As for training on summoned things, you should try hitting them with things they're resistant to, not things they're weak to. So, ice on ice, fire on fire, fire on Dremora. Skill gains seem to be based on hitting something, not damage done or kills.

So those bases were already covered. But here's a tip for anyone in the same boat as me: I managed to raise to 75 Destruction where I was able to get the Wall spells and other Expert ones. After that, I went to the top of the College and summoned a Flame Atronach and cast the Ice Wall at it. After it goes hostile and dies, the wall will remain for a while. Seeing this, I conjured it again, inside the standing ice-walled area, and started spraying it again. The ice wall I formerly created (which was still partially alive) plus the one I used to make the next Atronach hostile *BOTH* deal damage to it. And then I just repeated the process. After around 30 min of this, I'm at level 90 Destruction. I have the Mage Stone active on me, as well. BTW, throwing fire at a Fire Atronach told me that it resisted the effect, so it was either ice or lightning and the latter costs more to cast, so... there it is. Vindekarr
My tip is, if you can do this and live, try dualcasting Frostbite on a Mammot. Potentialy suicidal, but Frostbite should slow the bugger right down so you can use him like a big furry punching bag, errr, in theory.

I've been perched on a slope where they can't reach me and hurled Fireballs and Chain Lightning galore. Giants and the Mammoths. Looked like New Years. That's what I love about this and Oblivion; the ability to slide down some mountain slopes and perch on a small outcrop, sniping away. Too bad there are no watermelons in this game. oldspice2625
Another good tip is to have a summon (if you don't want to cast crap over and over and over and over and over) and have your summon do battle with whatever it is you are trying to kill that has a lot of HP... use the summon to draw away attention from you, and go on the side of behind and wail on them. It's honestly not that bad in thsi game, oblivion's destruction raised slower imho.
AtmaDarkwolf
I just 'played' with destruction for a while, and got it to 80 from 5 pretty quick. Defiantly not 'hard' - My issue is with restoration, which seems to take freaking ages to get xp(and its at 55 now) - I stood in place casting equilibrium and healing for an hour and gained 2 points in restore(But 80+ in alteration)
zarxark
With master level enchanting you can get two free schools of magic i.e. Destro and Resto. So you can just throw hell at your enemy.
oldspice2625
For the guy having trouble with restoration... go to a tower where you can fall down and get really hurt... not die, but maybe 1/3 of your hp left... do that, get hurt, and then heal up over and over again, and I don't think restoratio lvls based off of how LONG you heal, so weaker spells won't do the trick, I think it's HP that gets healed, or magnitude of spells that are blocked, etc... just like with the block skill
xlr8films
Healing Hands on Companions helps too. Since they get smacked around a lot.
