Will life on Earth end?

1. There can be no beginning without an end, and since we know there was a beginning for humans, there must be an end.

2. Not allowed on the forum.

3. No, science doesn't predict the end of Earth for another [about] 5 billion years. Now, of course, humans will cease to exist long before that. I believe that humans will not all die out, but will evolve into a higher, non-human lifeform within the next few million years.

4. Like I said, Evolution will end human life.

As long as there is no religion involved, we can talk about The End. As such, point 1, 3, & 4 are acceptable (there's some major controversy with them, though). Point 2, however, is right out the window.

From a moderator's point of view the forum does not stop you saying whether you have a religion or not, so people are free to answer yes or no to the question. What they cannot do is debate the issue (i.e argue with others).

 

But surely everyone, from the most fundamental creationist Christian to the most dyed-in-the-wool atheist. accepts that there was a point in the past where the world did not exist and there will be a point in the future where it doesn't again and the same applies to human life. Whether human life will die out, whether it will move to other habitable planets or whether it will evolve into another life form is pure speculation. Any of them is theoretically possible.

 

Feel free to voice opinions but don't argue with the beliefs of others in the thread.
