Khtugg
Hi all, In my current game I had a good run without technical problems, very stable. The playthrough was started 5 days ago(not ingame time). Yesterday, Friday the 26th, I updated my Nvidia driver to the current version and downloaded the Wasteland Girl Armour. I got Dark shadows on my pip-boy screen but I got it fixed. After that my game became unstable, CTD began to occur. It happens when I move between "grids" and when I switch outfits(I use Outfit Switcher), not always but there might be a pattern. Also, I find my recent saves crashes me to desktop when I try to load them. I don't know how to proceed, if any of you know a solution or some work arounds that might work then please share. I use a Nvidia Geforce GTX 970, could a Nvidia driver update really cause this? ClayboTGW
I updated to the newest Nvidia driver and it made my game so unstable I rolled my driver back to an older driver and now it runs much better, Nvidia will update it's driver 9 times out of 10 for new game releases and not thinking about older game releases just because there is an update don't mean you should update unless your playing the new game release the update is for. JimmyRJump
Imagine you're a race driver and your car is doing fine, until you switched brand of fuel. From then on, the car underperforms and has hick-ups. What do you do? You go back to the fuel you used before and see if that makes the car perform normally again... GPU & drivers? Same thing. Besides -and I keep seeing this behaviour over and over again- you don't update drivers just because there's new ones. First, check the logs of the new drivers to see why they've been released. Usually it's an optimisation for this or that game you don't have, so, hey, no need to update. Only update drivers when your GPU starts acting funny or when a certain game specifically asks for it ;)

Khtugg
Oh drat! The CTD continues! Can anyone recommend a driver version for the Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 card with respect to Fallout 4? I don't remember which one I used before utilising Experience. I don't recall having a CTD before that point, maybe if I can find a save from back then with the proper driver I can save some of the time I spend on this play through... Khtugg
And I was this close to my target level(45) for entering Nuka World! I guess the lesson is: "Only update drivers when your GPU starts acting funny or when a certain game specifically asks for it " At least not mid game! JimmyRJump
I just noticed that you have the UFO4P (latest Unofficial Patch) but the .esp is sitting in the wrong place: LOOT adds it in the wrong spot -it should be sitting right underneath all of the DLC. If you play with this plug-in order, the game will always crash... Also check for a patch for Valdacil's Item Sorting mod(s) for Nuka World. Khtugg
Thanks for your effort, JimmyRJump, however the problem persists and I think I'm gonna have to restart. I've heard that Fallout/Skyrim saves can corrupt even in unmodded instances, maybe that was the culprit in my case... that or I mucked up my save by myself yet again  that has happened before I admit. A pity about my lost progress, I was within a molerat's arm reach of going to Nuka World.I'm gonna cheat this time around and boost my kill xp. I like Fallout 4 but I like Fallout 4 better when I can craft, build and perk around, yes... ...And go to Nuka World!
