RaffTheSweetling
I have never done any 3D modelling before, and so I am an absolute noob. I have Blender, and tried to follow the basic instructions to get a .nif to load, and my Blender lacked the addon scripts for NetImmerse files. I tracked down a few files which seem to be recognized, and which Blender has loaded and let me select in the "import/Export" addons list, yet, when I tried to import my .nif file into Blender, the process didn't seem to work. I was left staring at a Blender screen with a simple cube, and not a wireframe of the model I wanted to edit (Patio Table).Anyone have any easy pointers? I know it's a huge amount to learn, but I have to start somewhere. BTW, all I wanted to do was remove the Patio Umbrella from the Patio Table, as there is no model of just the table itself. I figured it couldn't be too hard to just cut the mesh. But, I honestly have no idea. Griffin Edited August 28, 2016 by RaffTheSweetling
RaffTheSweetling
This is doing my head in. How the hell do I load a Fallout 4 .nif into Blender? :(
chucksteel
I don't think you can, You need to use 3Dmax unless there is a new blender nif script I don't know about. I edited the nif for you but I have a problem, My 3Dmax does is not compatible with the nif tools that come with the ckit (it requires 2013 and I have 2012) so I can't edit the collision. There are no other tables to steal a collision from so I can give you the edited nif but it will still have a collision for the umbrella. Not a big deal unless you wanted to tip the table over and then it may be a bit odd in game.

Hmm, well I like a challenge. :) I wanted the tables for an indoor cafe in my massive shopping mall cell (hence the need to remove the umbrellas), but in this instance I might be able to drape something overhead like fairy lights etc, to give the illusion of the source of that collision, to at least some extent anyway. If you wouldn't mind sending me what you created, I would be very grateful, mate. :) Many thanks. Raff, here you have the required tools + the guide on how to do that: http://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Creating_an_armour_for_Fallout_4._Part_1 Thanks SydneyB. Actually my friend Prensa sent me that exact same link today also. I had a look at it and it contains a lot of great information, but no explanation for the problem I'm having. If you read the top comment on this page, this is very similar to the problem I'm experiencing. Thank you kindly for the help anyway :) I've tried 3 different versions of Blender and no luck. chucksteel
@Raff, Here you go the collision is vanilla but the table will work in most situations. PatioFurniture
RaffTheSweetling
Thanks a lot, Chuck. :) I just took a look at the files in NukaWorld, and there is a new red patio chair, a patio table umbrella without the table, but no patio table without the umbrella. Doh! Might try the files to see if there is an unused .nif in there. Probably not. Really appreciate the help, bro. Griffin
SydneyB
Raff, you have the information you need in that link. You need to convert the FO4 nifs to another format (FO3 nifs) in order to be able to import them into Blender. And for doing that you need another tool (3DS max). Or instead of using 3ds max you can use Outfit Studio and then convert the FO4 nifs to OBJ so Blender can read them. Here you have the alternatives explained with the pros and cons of each of them: http://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Creating_an_armour_for_Fallout_4._Part_4
mkborgelt13
Hi all, I have a similar problem and would appreciate any kind of help or suggestion. I've been using Outfit Studio to convert back and forth from .obj to .nif for the purposes of editing clothing items. However, I want to edit non-clothing items, too. Like removing the nozzle from a blowtorch; removing one of the capacitors from gauss rifle to use as a grenade, stuff like that. The problem: When exporting my modified .obj to .nif in Outfit Studio, the mesh is treated as an outfit, and packaged with unweighted bones and data for body. When loaded, these meshes crash the CK. All I can do at the moment is combine .nifs in Outfit Studio. I really, really want to edit them in Blender. I have so many ideas that hinge on this one thing.
