cartman1975
@werr92 That is, what i was trying to say, maybe not as funny as in the video in your link. I found a nice example on beth.net. Somebody is requesting just 5 litte add-ons: "Elephant, rhino, lion, baboon, hyena, because that would be really kewll and so super awesome fun.Come on modders, can be so difficult and thing of all the fun and fame" ;)
bethjunkie
But which Commonwealth's people is this recruitment announcement meant for? Sure, you might find a coupla people from the Southeast or Northwest Commonwealths to do some grunt work but really your best chance is with going straight to the Columbia Commonwealth. Introduce your big opportunity fella to theirs and Bada boom, project done. Or at least that's what all those Dragons Den ripoff shows have taught me. RaffTheSweetling
Maybe if you all quit being such lil haters and actually thought about it I might be doing something dope you could maybe have something to hang your miserable little hats on. F you. I was just trying to make sure people knew. You don't wanna be apart of it who cares. Grammer Police isn't gonna do nuthin but piss a mah frika off. Well, I don't know about others here, but I have 1 File of the month win already. So my hat = hung. And I didn't need to bastardize the English language to get it either. I feel bad for you, mate, that you have to act in such a way, instead of receiving feedback and being able to learn from it.

I don't have anything as prestigious as a 'File of the Month', but I did 3d model, texture and integrate a weapon and location into Fallout: NV. And I did it without anyone else, so i'm fairly satisfied.
Deleted477949User
I'm gonna be honest. While I am laughing at the trolling I do feel you guys might be taking it a bit too far now. Sorry to be THAT guy but yeah... I'm THAT guy. Everybody pack up your toys and stop having fun, THAT guy is here. I dunno if the OP is ever gonna come back to this thread after this. I figure he probably would have by now, but he should definitely watch that modding for noobs video. @MrExcel12 If you read this then I know you meant no harm with your op. You are clearly very excited about an idea you have and just wanted to get the ball rolling on something. Unfortunately it doesn't really work like that. But dude take all that energy you poured into that large size all caps font and get to work learning. Break down your big idea into small parts and build one little piece at a time. Got an epic story in mid? Build a dungeon, learn to script a few traps. Got some cool armour and weapons in mind? Get learning blender. Years ago I was just like you. Super psyched about a mod called heaven's lookout by a guy called Andyguy for Morrowind. When the update never came out and I never got to wear that sweet Guyver armour that was teased I took it upon myself to build my own. I spent weeks learning how to model in wings3d and even longer getting what I made into game. Here is the result of all that labour.... It has no symetry, terrible textures and is just terrible, the suit isn't even rigged properly! But at the time it was the most awesome thing ever. I had MADE something and it was in a video game. That's how it started, the obsession, the learning, the hours shut away pouring my heart and soul into this and now I can do stuff like this(Queue the shameless self promotion of my upcoming mod) So yeah if you really want this then get started. Get learning, make it happen. Your first mod will by no means be your vision but it will be a step along the road to creating beautiful art and sharing it with people. Then the rest of the community is gonna be more likely to lend a hand.

Now that new animations are possible and rigs are being created, might be next after The Small Addition (if I ever finish that one, is the question now). I think you may be too nice for this site, Core xD Basically, s#*!-posting aside, you're gonna need to re-evaluate your stance here MrExec. People respect when others can demonstrate time, effort, and skill put into making a project a reality. Odds are, you're gonna have to do most, if not all, of the work yourself as a new modder. And it absolutely doesn't help insulting other members for pointing out mistakes. Otherwise, Core is pretty much spot on.

And I did it without anyone else, so i'm fairly satisfied. Now that's what I'm talking about. That's no mean feat, especially the 3D modelling. :)My mod took close to 5 years to make, also all by myself. - with a tiny bit of scripting help. :) I never released it unfinished, or as a mod for others to help improve or complete for me, because I knew when it was done it would be something special, despite people losing interest in the game it was for.I think there's nothing wrong with sharing ideas, or getting others to chip-in with things beyond your ability, but expecting modders to flock to your cause with zero information provided make no sense whatsoever. There has to be some direct individual involvement, and creation-component, beyond just having a cool idea. I think the OP doesn't get it.And I absolutely agree with this from Rotten Core: "But at the time it was the most awesome thing ever. I had MADE something and it was in a video game, That's how it started, the obsession, the learning, the hours shut away pouring my heart and soul into this " < That's truth right there. That's the formula. Modding is supposed to be about the individual creating something by his/herself= fun.Learning to do new things is immensely satisfying. It comes down to how willing is the modder to do the hard work themselves.

Hoping the companion mod i'm working on becomes my first, but I guess i'll see :) The thing about is ideas is that none of them are unique. If you've had one, odds are thousands of others have as well. What matters is that you are able to throw yourself at the idea to make it become reality.
