its all good. no problem with it.....only thing thats always bugged me is if porn is legal, why isnt prostitution? its sexy for money no matter how you look at it.

is it necessary? i dont think so. but we live in a world of wants and needs. its not a need, but its deff a want for many ppl.

and yep, im a guy. my eyes have gazed over a few porn flicks in my day.

remember, its all fun and games until someone gets it in the eye. lol

As I see it 10 % is performed by porn stars who are willing to invest their life in this career, to get fame and wealth.

The remaining 90 % of the porn industry, the girls (and boys) who are used against their will, never see anything else but the backside of the coin. The porn industry has the greatest use of young thai girls, thai girls that are lied to that they will become famous models in the western world, but instead end up in a tiny "studio" satisfacting an old pig, and a money purse.

I do not see any reason it should be illegal as a whole. We chose our living our self. But authorities should come down very hard on the illegal part on the industry.

I don't have any problem with it as long as those taking part are adult and have consented, its not like prohibition would stop it anyway, all that would do is remove the law abiding from the industry leaving it being run by criminals.

Well, I agree with you here, but I have some reservations about how porn is often produced and the structure under which it is produced. I think mainstream porn is pretty stupid and ridiculous, and the structure under which it is produced is our Stepford-mentality-addled society.

That said, I definitely do not think that sex work is inherently oppressive generally. A lot of it is, though--people are forced (yes, tricking them counts too!) into porn and prostitution. I do not think banning things will fix these oppressive elements, but I do think changing how we view sex and treat sex workers (as people, not just either victims or villains) is going to help. A person won't come forward and say they're being forced into sex work if they're scared they'll get into trouble too--and the Swedish model doesn't help either. Performers like exotic dancers and porn stars, well, if they ever leave the business like the pearl-clutching fusspot crowd want them to, are currently shamed for trying to be something different. See the case of Sasha Grey, she's retired from porn and wanted to help children, but the pearl-clutchers just LOVE calling her disgusting names and saying she should never be around kids and that she's as bad as a paedophile. Yeah, that's how people view anyone who gets paid for sex in anything but shiny things and wedding dresses.

I admit I have seen form of pornography, but mainly drawn...(I don't think I need to go any further from there).

As for 'porn' I think as long as the pornstars are doing it as something they want to do, or through leading a career in it rather then being forced to it, I think it's fair.

I know for a fact that morally wrong (child porn, forced porn) kinds are definitely something I don't condone. Used as entertainment source it is just sickly.

Kind of hard to determine what it is this is supposed to debate.

The question doesn't define what "porn" is. Is it a select passage from a book, say the bible (Song of Songs 1:2), or is it a video of the underage girl being beaten until she allows herself to be raped by a dog? I note someone has identified that "its all good" so it seems that there is at least some confusion (at least I hope there is) about what "porn" is and isn't.

Considering no one has been able to define what "porn" is and gain consensus for it, this seems like a silly and somewhat dangerous issue to attempt to discuss.

Aaaah what a topic.... Yeah time to break some braincells over this.

Yes porn is good or atlest neutral, it prevents all thous nasty situations whit male population where jizz gets to your brain and you go to rape some women.

concerning porn as prostitution yes morrally baad and in ideal world should not exist, however we are not in ideal world. by making it legal you can controll it, tax it, and profit from it.

and as to define what porn is its simple for me: porn is video / sound / image of sexual activity where all parties are willing to perform it and are aware of the fact that it is recorded. excample: actor A and actor B get money from manager C to perform sexual act on stage.

By no means rape is porn. I consider rape as one of primal crimes for what person should be punished severly. and in same lets define rape: its the act of sexual intercourse where part A physicly forces part B to have said intercourse. or part C forces any other parties to intercourse whit other parties. (note its physical, where if part that is not willing would suffer physical pain / damage)

I think Illuna defined porn for us pretty well. We are discussing magazines, films, pictures etc. Does the Book of Books from the bible count as porn? I don´t know, but I don´t think so, it´s not so explicit. Illegal forms of porn are of course banned and should be. I am aware of the exploitation going on in the industry and I think that´s bad. Porn should be made only by actors truly willing to do it.

But here´s a question: Does porn demean or oppress women?

I say that if it is exploitative, then yes, if the actor is willing, then no.
