Germandeathkittiez
I just put together my new rig, it's got AMD Radeon HD Sapphire 6950 graphics card, M4A87TD EVO Mobo, AMD 4x cpu, 8 gigs ripjaws ram, and an 850 watt power supply inside a giant NZXT Phantom White case. I'm rather disappointed with the performance in Oblivion (only game I've run on it so far). Mostly I get 30 fps straight but when I run into heavily modded areas (Elsweyr, Hammerfell) I get dips down to about 15 fps. This disappointed me as I assumed I'd get at least 40 fps in this game. I've tried overdriving the processor, doing the gpu overdrive and other settings in the ATI control panel and even gone from 8x anti aliasing in game to none with HDR and without any effects and messed with the other in game video settings and got NO change in fps. This is strange, but I found out that apparently in the mobo my video card isn't listed (lists a bunch of ASUS, but no Sapphires) and I can't tell by the list what the video cards are (just a bunch of random letters and numbers, not the real names). If my mobo doesn't support this brand, could that be why it seems to be stuck at one level of performance? Or should I just have gotten a better processor? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks. Something is wrong with your PC because you should be able to get max FPS in Oblivion with that PC. What kind of graphics mods are you using? This could also effect your performance. Germandeathkittiez
I have OBGE installed but other than that nothing really, no effects. The textures in Elsweyr Deserts of Anequina are pretty high-end, as well as the castles in Hammerfell.

RitualBlack
With amd 6900 series I find that you should keep everything on the control panel at amd recommended and use application settings. For example, I have tf2 at max settings and get up to 298 fps, but when I turned x16 aa and all those to max settings and had them on max in game my fps dropped down to 60ish. I am not sure if it does some sort of overlay type of thing because it looked really really smooth, but just keep it on default application settings. Hopefully this helps you out. Hopefully this helps you out.you actually turned on vsync I do know that v. sync limits your fps to your screens refresh rate (in my case is 60 Hz). I had it checked off in game, I just didn't know that the performance section of the CCC regarding v. sync turned it on instead of off  . dazzerfong
Oblivion is simply too old to take advantage of your new technology, Ninja. For heaven's sakes, it couldn't even utilize more than 50% of my Core 2 Duo!
Harbringe
How old Oblivion is does not matter , you have it way overpowered. You should be getting max fps.It has to lie with how the system is configured .As in does your CPU require drivers to be installed , does your Bios require an upgrade (can be dangerous), maybe your vid card is not fully supported by it .Whatever it is it lies between your CPU , mobo (including bios) and graphics card.
