Mystery swords

Hi - sorry to ask but my player acquired both iron sword and greatsword in the last few days but, for the life of me, I can't work out which mod! I've been through all the ones I have and can't see them. Last time I looked they were normal, vanilla swords. Now they're kind of weird and I'm not sure I want them in my game.

That's kind of you. I have gone through all my mods and cannot track this stupid alteration. I've Googles sword images, the lot. Knocked out ESPs and hunted through, used TES5Edit, the lot.

The spoiler below includes my mergers - I had to dig them out of MO and add them to the list manually. There are also texture packs but I have been through them. I hope you can spot the culprit!

 

Please don't spend too much on this - it's my own fault. I just wondered if someone would be able to say: "Blog's Mod!" or the like.

But I do not have this mod, so I assume someone has used this resource in their own mod which I've downloaded. Perhaps this is why I can't easily trace the mod that has put them in. The thing is - I don't like them. Seriously don't like 'em.

okay well good sir that is one heck of a mod list. to start are the swords replacers? whether or not this is the case do the following:

 

go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim (it will be where ever you put the game if you moved it)

 

then look for: the folders titled "iron" there should be one mesh and one texture also look for "cubemaps"

 

in the texture iron folder find and delete:

-stv

-stv_em

-stv_n

 

in the cubemaps folder delete:

-isd_steel11_e

 

in the Meshes Iron folder delete:

-1stpersonironclaymore

-1stpersonlongsword

-ironclaymore

-longsword

 

once you do that revalidate game files via Steam... tell me if this works.

This is how it turned out: the mod that had altered all the vanilla iron swords was "The Haven from the Cold and the Dark". I used your instructions to search out and remove their iron swords, and now I am reverted back to vanilla.

 

I was only able to track this down by using Windows search to find out which mod was actually using those files you mentioned (I'm using Mod Organiser which makes things a bit more difficult!). Even though I clicked off the ESP for that mod in my search for the culprit, the content was still inside the save / game so I could not see any change in game for some reason. Only once I killed the mod's iron files did I see the reversion to vanilla. So you can appreciate I could only find this through your help. I shall pop you a Kudos on that and you have my heartfelt thanks. Well done!

 

I shall drop a note onto the mod's comment board to let them know they are altering every vanilla iron sword!

PS - that's a toned down mod list for me! And it all works a treat apart from bendy-looking swords, now resolved.
