thesapien
That sounds like a fun idea on paper but, for me, that would be so frustrating in practice. And what to do when you infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy by yourself, which you have to do for the main quest? Perhaps if you're very sneaky it might work. That way, you can stealth your way through missions and when by yourself you could even run and hide to heal yourself. You'd be hiding and healing yourself all the time or hiding and healing your follower. Maybe some archer skills, too. But, still, how to take down a frost troll quickly before it too just heals??? Maybe be willing to leave a follower behind if they engage a frost troll and get a new one.
diamonddragoniori
I did something similar as a pure conjure mage.....stack up on potions and use daedric lords to do all my fighting....i did not try to "support" them just kited the enemy if attacked....and "cast" one if one of them dies..... quite entertaining & challenging actually...... nosisab
To me it sounds bad idea since the skills are improved by "use".
CalibanX
I did something like this for a while. It has a variety of limitations. Followers can't really kill Dragons or bosses by themselves. If you limit your dungeons to ones that aren't too horrible they can hold they're own most of the time provided you help them out big time. In my case I used Illusion spells to buff my follower & Calm Spells to help with mobs & Restoration to heal her. I gave her great weapons and equipment and oftentimes used a Summon Flame Atronach Staff to give my helper a helper. That made a big difference. So, it's a doable approach in a lot of situations but not all. Tread carefully and don't be afraid to run away. :) Edited January 17, 2012 by CalibanX
celebriton
I created many characters. One of them is a mage, and I use melee followers as a tank to do the attack all the time, while me give support from behind. I do like followers very much. I want to see my followers to be more alive and active to interact with the environment, like checking and looting dead bodies, drinking, eating, etc (while in idle, tavern and home) rather than just standing following me. They also have tons of dialogs and quests too. Even romance, love and hate relationship between followers. I also want to change the way followers following me. I dislike the queuing one by one Bethesda standard like a locomotive. I want they stand in star or triangle formation like in Bioware games (Baldur's Gate), and closer to each other like a pack. They also to be more reacted when pushed, so they will not blocking the road, especially in small cave and door. I also want The Sims kind of game. Me and my followers can eat together, dancing, drinking and drunk in tavern. After that, we all get perk or moodlet. Talk about The Sims, we can't forget the famous Woohoo activity. Woohoo with different followers gender to get Lover's comfort without marriage. Double lover's comfort for threesome, even a Woohoo party in tavern and house. Woohooing is not always positive, Woohooing with strangers something can get you a disease like herpes. Female followers and female main character can get pregnant. To compensate for adding more followers, usually I increase the difficulty level. It will be better if someone can create a mod to increase the number of enemy in the caves and dungeon. There are already a War in Skyrim 2 mod to increase more enemies outdoor. More followers and more enemies = WAR ZONE!!!
justwannaddl
You'll likely want a dog and a melee fighter at your side as well as restoration and illusion magic. Illusion would be a good fallback to calm or scare away enemies while restoration will provide support, healing and undead turning. If you don't want to do magic, alchemy and sneak will be the way to go. Load down on potions of healing, fortify skill and invisibility. I've been grinding alchemy and enchanting while using the latter strategy on my second character though I really only used it for wandering and I do run away a lot. diamonddragoniori
I wish all the followers had marcurio (the mage you hire at riften) AI....he seems to learn my fighting style and adapt to it.....awesome..... maybe someone could set his behavior to the other followers as well....though i have to say majority of the mage class followers seem to have better AI....maybe they would work best for your play plan.....
