justwannaddl
edit: Double post. Weird time out error. The phrase is actually an old saying about how PC games tend to cheat to keep the game challenging. The most classic example is during a racing game, the player is handily winning by a several miles but the game cheats by making it so the competition is always a few feet away no matter what to keep it difficult. The perceived difference in magika between player and NPC fits this to a tee. Edited December 5, 2011 by justwannaddl
oSIXo
its not a huge thing considering i have a spellbreaker shield for my warrior player, but it can be very frustrating at the early levels when magic seems to just absolutely rape you lol
BGatot
I know! Especially those ice mages that shoot out ice bolts like AK-47 on full auto! Sometimes from incredible distance too. Those are the bane of my character's existence...
zyg0tic
Ive been using the shout Become Ethereal while I wait for them to drain their mana on me while Im invuln. Those are the bane of my character's existence... More like a mounted minigun. I swear they pummeled me to death in 5 seconds. It's sooo fun to die that way.... justwannaddl
Interesting. I was thinking the fireball casters were worse. Its like getting hit by a carpet bomb.
audioave10
The strong Mages are the ones that still kill me sometimes. I just need to play better.
WarKirby3333
I look forward to a time when players will no longer have to say "The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard." i agree here. The time to stop developing graphics happened about 4 years ago. we have more or less photorealism now. it's time for excess computing power to be devoted more to advanced AI processing. bpestilence
Computer mages actually do have mana limits. I have tested them and they definately exist. I play the sign of the Atronach, and a Dunmer. So any mage using a constant fire spell really does nothing more than fill up my mana bar. I have additional spell absorption enchantments. What I do is stand there as a mage is burning me, and cast a low-level spell back at them, to see who dies first. I cannot run out of mana because they are giving me mana. But after 20 seconds of this, they always pull a dagger and charge me. It has to be because they have ran out of mana themselves, or else the AI is smart enough to know when a tactic isn't working. I have seen mage followers run out of mana as well. They also deplete enchanted items the same as you would. To micromanage my mage followers I usually give them several staves to fight with when their "native" mana runs out in an extended fight. After a while I take them back and recharge them (with Azura's star, or course). High level mages SEEM like they have infinite mana, but remember, they are high level mages. Assume that it is just like if you had spent every level point on mana enhancements and none on stamina or health. With the appropriate perks you, too, can have basically infinite mana.
