Adipose
You're absolutely correct, and once in a blue moon I'll play a character in just such a fashion. Usually though I'm one of those old hardcore, reality freaks...well, reality within the framework of an imaginary world in which magic works. 'Sides, I kinda want to find out if I can take a truly aged character to the end of the game without cutting him any slack. Well, how about alchemy, he made himself or found a great potion that grant him strength till the end of his days? How about being blessed by a deity, or that being dragonborn or getting dragon souls grants him more power? But yeah, other than being an orc, I don't see how an old man with no back ground of fitness can live in Skyrim without magic. You can make it that he is more bold while drunk lol. Ummm, I, uh, have been known, on occasion..."cough"...to employ a select body of loyal followers. Usually about four, with Lydia and Rayya added later. The really tough part is making it to Whiterun or Riverwood on my own at the verybeginning. I get a bit of a rush being on constant alert. It's paramount that I spot those with ill intent before they seeme so that I can take cover. With my set up, there're lone/small groups of creatures and humanoids out to get mefrom the very beginning, and it's sort of fun hiding in some thick brush to watch them trot on by. Now, with creatures,it's a bit more difficult, due to heightened senses I assume. Pretty hard to avoid a wolf. Thank the designers for thattwo-handed ax that can be scavenged out of the abandoned prison. At the beginning contact with a wolf has abouta fifty-fifty result, sooo, best to avoid them altogether. Best to avoid everything if there's no aid to hand. Also, withvery limited endurance at the beginning I've got to really watch stamina and magicka levels. If stamina goes, sodoes magicka, and it's REALLY tedious getting that built back up. Sometimes it takes an hour and a half of realtime to make it from the abandoned prison to Whiterun. Sonreac
Hey Adipose, I'm too lazy to hunt through other forum posts, so I'll ask you here. *snicker* What mods are you currently running, if You don't mind the question that is.
Adipose
Hey Adipose, I'm too lazy to hunt through other forum posts, so I'll ask you here. *snicker* What mods are you currently running, if You don't mind the question that is. Nah, it's all good. Currently I've got 274 downloaded, with a total of 216 installed, with 215 plugins. So far my old midlevel is handling them...mostly. There are spells of ctds but not so many that I can't deal with them emotionally. The reason that I've got so many downloaded is that my server is DSL, three miles out in the country and it is REALLY slow...particularly if one of the other comps in the house is on line. So, rather than spending hours downloading I download, take them off active profile and store. Don't know how much memory that takes up but so far it works...knock wood. To your question, those that are currently active and having the most impact on my current game are found in "Gameplay Effects and Changes", "Immersion", and "NPCs". Cruise through those and read up on the various mods thatare taken from Erkeils' work and revised and reuploaded by Adolphen, or you can check out grvultures' work. or you can look at the work by Tonycubed2, a lot of which deals with the same stuff as Adolphen. So far they all seem to begood modders. Don't overlap your mods. I also run basic immersion mods like Frostfall, Wet and Cold, Real Shelter, Realistic Needs and diseases, Realistic Dialogue Overhaul, and so on. Also make sure that you've got SKSE, SKYUI, and the like installed. In sum, I've got so many I can't really relate everything. Lol! I'm probably stressing my comp beyond all reasonable expectations but I really like my game now. Frankly it's so far beyond vanilla that it's almosta new game. At the moment I'm playing really hardcore and don't actuallyknow how it's gonna work out. Dragons are a lot tougher as well. The entry levels for my character call for a lot of backup followers, otherwise he'd be toast. In fact, I'm not at all sure how some of the game aspects I've installed are gonna play out. FREX, I've got two installs that seem to effect archery, with one placing me higher than the other but only one shows up on the Skills tree.I can't find the one that's working in the background and as long as it's not messing up gameplay I'll likely leave it alone. Also, if you haven't, you'll need to download the latest LOOT, NMM, and FNIS. Those all seem to help keepmy mod mix more or less stable. Sometimes the game starts glitching at higher levels. Not sure why. Probably having an effect on memory, plus my CPU and GPU are both AMD. Intell is supposed to be noticeably better for gaming. Boombro
AdiposeWhat you should do is simply swim the river. I also did a run like that, an arcane thief. Same idea as bound traveler basically. You can think about transforming, vamprism for example, your character fears death or hates his weakness, so he seeks a vampire. Werewolf overhual also let you become a werewolf if you got attacked by one. You can RP that those curses gives him power to be the strong old man he is. If you want the more mage route, there are mods allowing you to be powerful creatures via spells.
