JimmyRJump
If this has been fixed, why do none of my mods with .esp's work unless I do this? If this wasn't fixed, why is it that the rest of the more or less civilised world doesn't have a problem with it? The astrisk was added with the release of the 1.5.157 version of the game, somewhere in May... that's almost five months ago. I suggest you update the game and see what gives. JimmyRJump
Load order has nothing to do with it. It's the plugins.txt file located at X:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Fallout4 that normally gets the asterisks added when using the corrrect version of the game in conjunction with the latest release of Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). The astrisk was added with the release of the 1.5.157 version of the game, somewhere in May... that's almost five months ago. I suggest you update the game and see what gives. The game is up to date. The problem arose when I moved Fallout 4 from one drive to another. NMM somehow got botched in the process, even though I read and attempted to redirect it to the games new location. It just so happened that there was an NMM update (latest). So I reinstalled NMM, and redownloaded all of the mods (not a lot, maybe 4 in total). Now, EasyHacking doesn't work, nor does PipBoyLight, without putting an asterix in front of the ESP's in the plugin.txt file in the AppData folder. I don't know what to say, I have this problem, and it's very annoying because I have to do this every time I open NMM. Do I need to reinstall Windows? How about rebuild the computer? NMM is buggy, I'm not the only one.
LucJocWhite
I fixed it by completely deleting every file for fo4, reinstalling the game. I just nuked everything with fo4, deleted nmm, reinstalled it... How do I install mods the new way? I heard to just put [Archive]bInvalidateOlderFiles=1sResourceDataDirsFinal= [Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1uLastAspectRatio=1 I just put this stuff into fo4 custom.ini instead of the prefs like you use to back in 2015... <------------ So this way works for me. But when I go to the fallout 4.ini file and go to the /STRINGS section, before I use to add all of the shader files, weapon files and all of that stuff but now I just leave it as /STRINGS because it told me the sResource data is old... This is the right setup right guys?
bill8872
I have never placed the * before my mods, and never had an issue.Maybe using F4SE since day one worked around it.
LucJocWhite
I want to kill myself.. This problem is giving me cancer... Everytime I try to launch the game it just ctd.. As far as I have established everypossible thing surrounding fo4 is clean, no mods, nothing, clean install, no modded custom.ini nothing... I double click FO4 "Preparing to launch Fallout 4.." boom the menu shows up everything looks fine yeah great m8 but as soon as I click the "PLAY" button, the screen just closes and then "Preparing to launch Fallout 4.." BOOM THE MENU JUST SHOWS UP AGAIN AS IF THE PLAY BUTTON IS RIGGED TO A RESTART BUTTON!! :( Imgunnacri.... If don't find out how to fix this I'm going to inhale 3 red balloons full of helium and shoot up the coca cola factory with a AK-12 while screaming allahu akbar

I wonder if your issue is display driver related. Try clean reinstalling your display driver (restart computer into Safe Mode, navigate to folder holding Display Driver Uninstaller, run as administrator, upon boot up ensure you have not net connectivity so that Windows doesn't automatically download and install your display driver). Install display driver the normal way, personally I avoid Geforce Experience like the plague. Edited September 26, 2016 by vulcan78
vulcan78
Load order has nothing to do with it. It's the plugins.txt file located at X:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Fallout4 that normally gets the asterisks added when using the corrrect version of the game in conjunction with the latest release of Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). The game is up-to-date. I just had to reinstall Fallout 4 in an attempt to alleviate the bugs associated with moving the game from on SSD to another about a week ago. In the process of installing through Steam the game was updated. To top everything off, to get "See through scopes" to work, based on the authors advice I moved my NMM mods folder to the same drive as the game which fixed that mod but in doing so I was forced to reinstall NMM. The problem remains, all the .esp's in my plugins.txt file will not get asterix in front of them unless I close NMM down and do it myself. This has become so tedious that I have created a copy of plugins.txt that I make actual every time I use NMM. So yeah, I don't know what to say, I pretty much reinstalled NMM and the game and this is the problem.
