making my first mod

Hi, I'm new to the modding community.

I'm using CS for my first mod.

It's not much, its a book that lists all the alchemical ingredients with their ID code for using the console commands.

I've almost finished it, but I'm having problems figuring out how to add it to Phintias at First Edition in IC, so I can test it out, to make sure it works and looks the way I want to.

I've searched the CS site and this site, but couldn't find any information about how to add a custom book mod to a npc sellers inventory

Like I said this is my first mod, and I would like to get to the point where I can start making my own full city, with

40-50 new houses with full interiors, and a house thats for sale

40-50 new npc's each with their own different personalities

all new guards that will be in this city only, and they know where everything is, like all guards do.

large castle with hidden passages, not just one but multiple, and a dark, dark, very dark secret from 150 years ago

2-5 Inn's

chapel with an undercroft, and a large graveyard thats not what it seams

barracks

guard towers

armory, training grounds, for the guards

and the basic common shops you find in a city

All Guilds will be in the city, DB, thieves, fighters, mages, and a new guild thats never-before-seen

There will be 5 separate sections of the city, Castle, harbor, low-income, mid-income, high-income, shop area, chapel area,

prison with a long-forgotten dungeon with vengeful spirits

an evil underground guild that deals with all new drugs in the game, most likely using some real-world drugs with there effects, and as well as skooma

25+ new quests with quest givers, the biggest quest giver would be the... sorry can't say anymore it would be a spoiler.

Located on a coast with its own harbor with 10-12 ships, and a few sunken ships, and a quest, that you will have to enter a sunken ship thats filled with water and evil fish spirits.

Not sure where it will be located at, but I'm thinking about the North-East section of the Anvil Sector next to Malacath's Shrine, OR in the Bravil Sector just below Nenalata Ruins which has a large open space it seams. Not 100% sure where though yet.

anyways, I'm sorry, I get rambling and I can't shut up.

To add something to an NPC's shop list, I think you would have to put it in his merchant chest/crate. I'm not exactly sure how to do this myself, but I think that is how you do it. Each merchant has his own merchant container in which they keep their wares...

Vagrant, correct me if I'm wrong

thank you both of you, I will check it out when I get back home. I'll add the mod here to see what you guys think of it and what I can do to make it better.

oh one more question, I'm sorry, where do I find the book icon meshes at? I extracted the oblivion bsa files, but couldn't find any, I have the nif file already, but having trouble making a icon for it. I'm not very good at photoshop or gimp yet, still learning how to use either one. lol, beginners bad luck I guess. :)

I just tried going to the link, but it seems that it doesn't work, the cs.elderscrolls.com site isn't working, it says redirecting then goes to page can't be found. I'll try it again later.

LHammonds has written quite a few tutorials found under

Articles off the main page

Use the links to original materials at the bottom of the post

The links at the top that say "can be found here" don't work for some reason

Good Luck

anyways thanks for the help!

EDIT:

Perfect it works for me, added it to First Edition.

Now to finish adding the images and formatting the book.

Thanks again, I'll have to make my reference book collection just a little larger, for credits and references! :D

Oh yeah, I found the vanilla images of the book icons and the ingredient icons also.
