Thanks for that "bat" tip. I'll use that as soon as I'm done with the game and start to add increase spawn mods. The problem with the increase spawn mods is that soon the creatures are encroaching on area that they should not be in. Next thing you know you have 6 Frost Trolls wrecking havoc in Riverwood killing everyone. :)

I may have to try that enable tip too. I'd like to send him back to his shop if I can't just kill him.

Thats one of the points of this thread, the Base ID# for setessential is not removing his essential setting and he is still unkillable.

Finally I just had to click disable on him to get rid of him. The problem with this is that although it will remove him it does not advance the quest as it should. So now I have the quest done but the wizard is still in jail.

I havent tried setessential yet, out of fear of breaking something, but I routinely disable the Legates of the Imperial Camps that I attack (took the Stormcloak path) and it seems like they will re-enable themselves after a period of time. But then they will be the only person left in the camp still. Funny.

That was one of the bugs I had. I had completed the quest, bought the home, cleaned and furnished it too, but Cal was still there. Nothing I could do to kill him. After the quest the guards would thank me for catching the killer, but the wizard was still in jail and Cal was still in my home. :)

Yes. Add the lines below to your Skyrim.ini file located in Documents\My Games\Skyrim.
[GamePlay]
bEssentialTakeNoDamage=0

Just so you know, this thread was last posted in on December 28th, 2011. It's a wee bit old to be bumping, even with relevant information, don't you think?
