AlexZander40
I just cracked 1900 hours myself. I generally don't run with a huge selection of mods (usually about 40 - 50), mostly graphics/armor/clothes/magic mods. I'm thinking about trying one of the overhaul mods. I tried Requiem in the past, and found it to be over the top in terms of difficulty. I'm eyeing PerMa or SkyRe at the moment, but it looks like it's not a simple drop in mod. Are any of you considering an overhaul after so many hours of Skyrim? I actually still have some vanilla saves from 2011 that I may try using with SSE. Does anyone know if they fixed the distant texture pop-in? I considered bumping up uGrids, but didn't feel like bugging out my game. I used SkyRe for previous plays and liked what T3nd0 did with the Perk Trees. Much more variety to build my characters and make them unique. Then when he released Perma, I have that installed and it's been great. I installed the PerMa Defluffing Perks though, as I didn't care for T3nd0's fluffy perk descriptions. Downside though is when you have to rebuild the Patchus Maximus patch. It can take 15-20 minutes on a large mod load. I definitely recommend giving PerMa a try. And watch GamerPoets' or Gopher's Youtube tutorials on getting it properly installed and working. If you haven't tried Skyrim Community Uncapper, I highly recommend that SKSE plugin. Complements SkyRe or PerMa nicely. You can go into the ini file and make custom changes to how your character levels up.
saurusmaximus
I know this is (almost) necroing (being a three week old thread) but I couldn't resist. I'm curious as to what "stages" everyone has gone through with their modding. Mine has been: Stage 1: "Testing the waters." Adding a few basic, simple mods and admiring the results (then getting eaten by a Troll because I was distracted.)Stage 2: "The Top 100." Finding the "Highest Rated" filter on Nexus Mods and downloading them. (Then spending several days trying to figure out why I would CTD at the load screen 'cause I was a total noob at modding.)Stage 3: "DOWNLOAD ALL THE MODZ!" Adding every mod that caught my eye, even if I didn't really need it. (Until my Skyrim install rolled over and said: "blaaarggghhh...." -or something to that effect.)Stage 4: "Starting over with a sensible mod list." Re-installing Skyrim and starting a new game with a fresh mod list based on what I really needed/wanted. (Sorry HD rugs, I needed that plug-in...)Stage 5: "Vanilla." Tried vanilla Skyrim just out of curiosity. (BLECH! Back to stage 4, immediately!)Mine is a bit different: Stage 1: "I wonder if there is a way to remove everyone's underwear" (yeah, I'm a perv, sue me). Downloads CBBE, is now officially an addict, though he doesn't know it yet.Stage2: "Top 100 troll". Stage 3: "Download all the Modz!" Hits the 255 limit, Decides to be more reasonable until...Stage 4: "Discovers the magic of merging plugins" Now has 417 mods installed. Somehow makes it (more or less) stable.Stage 5: "After 3 years of installing/updating/removing mods, his Data folder implodes". Skyrim won't run for more than 5 minutes without crashing. Falls into a deep depression and cries himself to sleep at night.Stage 6: "Gives up and finally does a full reinstall". Spends over 20 hours rebuilding his mod list, this time trying to be a little more sensible (but knows deep-down it won't last).
KurganSPK
if you can run Fallout 4 you will be able to run 64 bit Skyrim... so far the footage shown isnt anything to brag about. Thanks for the response. I do agree with You. My concern is not that the game won't run on my rig. I'm more concerned about it beeing optimized. Things like FPS, etc. Well, I am fortunate to have a new, higher end system but the difference so far in perf is night day between old Skyrim and SSE - at 2560x1440 in Ultra I am getting 100 fps with 60 mods installed so far. In my standard Skyrim game with 255 mods including an ENB I am getting 20-40 fps. Plus cell transitions in SSE are way faster - just a couple seconds for indoor outdoor transitions and it can take a minute or more to change cells sometimes in my standard skyrim build. Granted, the old skyrim looks better than SSE with my mod selection but I am very encouraged for the future with SSE and what it will mean for a heavily modded game in terms of raw perf increases. My specs - Win 10, 32GB RAM, GTX 1080.

Lol - Yeah went through these stages though I resolved not to mess with merging plugins and stick with the 255 limit just to keep things sane. What's even worse is, with the release of SSE, I'm rubbing my hands together wondering how much I will be able to stuff into a 64 bit version of the game before it implodes :geek: . I need help... SPH1
Yes: installing and testing mods...and even dabbling in the CK itself...is as much fun as playing the game. I have over 2,000 hours in game, and since I don't think offline counts the hours, probably have nearly that much offline. Much messing around with mods and testing house mods.
