Dude, where's my respect?

Why is it that nobody seems terribly impressed at this? Where are the priests of Talos proclaiming that I'm the second coming? Where's my Thalmor dossier saying I'm a major threat to the dominion, and should be dealt with immediately lest I get the idea to take up the mantle of emperor? Where are the rulers trying to gain my favor in order to use my name to their own political ends?

MORE IMPORTANTLY you should ask yourself, where is the "radiant world" that Todd Howard promissed? Where are the AI changes adapting to your skill level? Where is the world changing with your decisions? Where is the recognition? Putting dovahkiin aside, you climb up the ranks of guilds and legion very fast, you are a f***ing legate and the guards are like "no lolligagging" or "stay out of trouble citzen", you are listener of the DB and the guards are like "so your with the dark brotherhood eh?" DB is so dummed down in Skyrim... a child doing the black sacrament wtf is that? Wheres the recognition from the instructors when you are archmage? You can be lowest level possible in every single magic skill but your still archmage, wheres the "mage" part? You are the leader of the companions, they are well respected but why the f*** they don't respect you? Your thane, and still not well respected? There is so much more to it, and putting dovahkiin back it makes it even worse, I mean Hadvar said to me: "So whos the dragon, papa or mama?" I mean wtf? He KNOWS that im dragonborn and still says bulls*** to me? Ulfric is not dragonborn and shout the high kind to death, I AM DRAGONBORN, I CAN MASTER f***ing SHOUTS AND YOU SAY THAT TO ME? Well you can kill him, oh wait hes essential, through console commands I guess... Not the same thing... I could go on with this for enough time to write a book... But I won't bore you, Todd Howard that is fake advertisment

My character was a Legate and Rikke still refers to me as "soldier", While a general (Legate) is technically a soldier, I don't know if a Legate would refer to a fellow legate as "soldier". I mean, if General Eisenhower called Montgomery a soldier, the Nazi might just won the war because there would be a split among the allied forces, a total lack of cooperation between the US and UK. These off-color and inappropriate speeches just doesn't make sense and break the sense of immersion. Guard saying "I remember you, you're one of the new Companions. So you, what, fetch the mead?" I am the Harbinger of the Companion, dammit! In reality that kind of mistake is the ultimate social faux-pas. Calling a company CEO a mailboy, for example, or ask him to get coffee like a janitor. Or calling an Admiral a sailor, or calling a General a private... The solution should be simple, since more appropriate greeting exist. When you become a Harbinger those comments suitable for lower-ranking characters should be disabled. If they can enable a set of comments after we did something, surely they can also disable certain comments after something had happened. They went to the trouble creating appropriate comments when we've accomplished something, then shot themselves in the foot by not disabling the previous ones.

Recognition in this game is so sad and it's not just random NPCs - I always love it when I go to join the companions after killing the first dragon. Vikas, "I've never even heard of him.", hellooo~ the guards are talking about me being the dragonborn and I'm the thane of the city you guys are in...

Also why so little respect overall. I mean, you're the Dragonborn and from what I see, Dragonborn is some great and legendary stuff - you can put up your own banner and folks will flock to you. It's like King Arthur returning or something. You saved Skyrim, you helped a faction raise to power and yet you can't even be a Jarl or anything bigger than a thane - you'll always be that new guy with fur growing out of his ears.

Re: PC variable checks.

I find it hard to stomach when a guy dressed in commoner's clothes gets the same amount of attention as the other guy in full Daedric. Bandits seem especially stupid without this feature.

Guy in only loincloth, running around for teh lulz: Rob him

Common peasant guy: Rob him

Two 6' 9" bruisers in heavy armour and wielding huge weapons: Rob him

Just witnessed a mage melt the faces off 5 of their friends: Try to rob anyway

I completely agree with this, there should be some intimidation factor tied up to what armour you wear. Were daedric is on the top of the scale, i mean you look like the devil himself, who in their right mind would mess with you? I think it is a good idea for a mod, the cooler the armour you wear is, the less chance there is for any low-level bandits to mess with you, and will usualy prefer to flee. Also the chance for the intimidation option in a dialogue to work will increas depending on the armour. I'd love a mod like that

I completly agree. Cause it gets a bit tiring going out and doing all of these quests and such that prove how tough and durable (not to mention macho) that my character is, but don't get one bit of respect. Is really maddening that you can walk around in glowing deadric armor with the blood of your enemies still fresh on you, and even kids sneer at you and make condescending remarks.
