My Settlers Can't Be Assigned

Ran into the same issue a few days ago, although I can't tell exactly when. This seems to be a known issue, even though most the topics and information are from back in July/August with no recent update (That I could find at least).

 

I'm currently experiencing the following issues:

 

  • No new settlers arriving at settlements
  • Can't reassign/assign settlers
  • Can't send people to a different settlement (Cait for example will alwas return to sanctuary, despite me assigning her to Nordhagen Beach)

I'm using DCMS which seems to be related to the problem.

This doesn't sound like the issue though. Most fixes suggest to start over with the game, which I'd like to avoid. I was looking into this tool http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10261/? to remove all scripts references for test purposes, but it is not yet compatible with 1.7.22.

 

If anyone knows whether there are any updates to this or any hints, it'd be appreciated.

Did you add any mods recently?

I do not use Bettler Settlers, but if I have to guess, the conflict is with that one.

 

A different note.

Move Scrap Everything to the very bottom of your list.

While it is not related to this, but that mod works best at the bottom.

You do have a mod conflict, but without knowing your mods no one can help.

 

That post you found has been fixed shortly after it was discovered.

Thanks for your reply, I know that the issue mentioned in the thread was solved, but I don't have the issue. At least I think I don't, as I don't have any issues with settlers changing appearance. Just everyone talking about settlers not getting assigned points to that post sooner or later.


I tried removing and Better Settlers and Don't call me settler (SettlersRename.esp) but the error still persisted. Additionally, the game would crash to desktop when I approached my biggest settlement (Sanctuary), which has about 26 Settlers (including named NPC's such as Preston and the bunch). I think most of them arrived after the installation of DCMS and BetterSettlers, so I'd say it worked for a bit after Installing the mods (The mods also did their job in renaming the settlers).


When I reinstalled both mods the crash didn't occur anymore, but the error was also still there.


EDIT:


Just checked the mod page again and it seems that just yesterday more people started reporting the issue. So I'll assume it's an incompatibility with DCMS and 1.7.22...

I read the same thing. It seems that the latest patch messed up this mod, or created a conflict with another, but not for everyone.

I had that happen with a different mod with patch 1.5.

 

As far as the crash goes. From what I have read, and how I understand how the mod works. It adds a script to manage the settlers.

I have not seen any response from the author, so you have only three options.

Try and find the conflict, which I do not think you have. Live with it being broken, and wait for response from the author.

Start a new game, since removing this mod will mess up any saves.

The same thing happened to me with Don't Call Me Settler,

- The DCMS holotape no longer functions, changes don't register

- Settlers stopped showing up at any settlement

- Settlers not able to be reassigned

- Settlers and companions unable to be sent anywhere other than last location before bugged out

- Gardens unharvestable even though workshop says that someone is assigned

- resources stopped growing/flowing

- happiness stuck, won't raise or lower

My settlements seem to be in "limbo" after the bug hit, nothing affects, nothing changes, nothing works.

The worst part is it affected all my saves, and after uninstalling it causes a CTD whenever trying to save a game. Had to start a new game to get rid of it.

 

Oh well, live and learn.

Delete WorkshopParentScript.pex and WorkshopScript.pex from your data/scripts folder, if you have either of them in there.

Delete WorkshopParentScript.pex and WorkshopScript.pex from your data/scripts folder, if you have either of them in there.

Have The same problem with "don't call me settlers', but i have no WorkshopParentScript.pex and WorkshopScript.pex.

How can i deinstall this mod?
