damanding
It really sucks and it's rare that mods will completely break a game, but it's unfortunately the risk of using mods. In the case of Don't Call Me Settler, it appears that Bethesda started making game engine changes to the way settlements work when they released Nuka World. That's when Don't Call Me Settler started having problems. The mod author actually has the file hidden right now while they work on it. There are a couple of people who claim it doesn't break their game, but unfortunately far more people complained that it did break their game irreparably. I'm really sorry that you had this experience. In the future it's probably best to not become too attached to a particular save game if you're going to use mods to change the game. Mod authors have varying levels of knowledge and sometimes, as in the case of Don't Call Me Settler, it doesn't even matter how much the mod author knows, Bethesda can still make changes that break mods badly. greekrage
The mod "dont call me settler " was even taken OFFline...that should hint how bad the issue is...
IronGator454
"Dont call me settler" is still working for me. Not perfect, but never did, I just spawned 30 settlers at a new settlement I had built and though troublesome, after "sending" each one to that same settlement, I auto assigned everyone a job, from food to store to guard post. Just have to kinda have to have same amount of available jobs as available settlers and then run "Call of the Leader" 3 times to finish assigning all. damanding
The people that had problems with it said it takes a long time for the problems to appear. There are also two very vocal people that have never had an issue with it. So I suspect it depends on what version you're running, and/or how long you've been running it. halfcocked
Bump. Has anyone heard of a "fix" to the problems believed to be caused by "Don't call me settler"? My game, too, has recently bugged. Settlers cannot be assigned or moved, if you've moved the crops then they do not "find" them, newly spawned settlers do not get the "trade" dialogue option, etc, etc. Its a real shame, because I was just enjoying a period of remodelling some of my old settlements. There had been no recent changes in my game - no new mods, no huge settler recruitments, no quest activity - it all just stopped working. Deactivating various settlement or NPC mods makes no difference. I gather from t'web that this is all likely due to the defunct DCMS mod. I'm not criticising it - I think it was a really excellent mod that enhanced my game. I really hope the author eventually comes up with a new version. In the meantime, is there any way to fix these issues, or is it a case of scrapping that game altogether? (which would probably be the end of F4 for me; life is too short to run around after Preston and get to level 160 all over again!)
Fkemman11
Perhaps another mod could be used to change settler behavior. Sorta a mod to fix a mod thing? :D

(which would probably be the end of F4 for me; life is too short to run around after Preston and get to level 160 all over again!)Based on what I've heard and my understanding of persistence (which is how these bugs are baked into the save game), I'm pretty confident when I say there's no way to fix it. Once it's broken it's just broken. I've restarted numerous times and still manage to enjoy the game. It can actually be fun to re-live the early days of the game. Alternatively you can use a save game that someone has uploaded to Nexus to give yourself a jump start. I recently started using this one for mod testing purposes. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11065 The settlements are pretty much half-baked so there's not much to tear down and rebuild to your own preferences, a fairly clean slate on that front. Additionally there are several versions to choose from in terms of faction choices, or one that's stopped just before choosing factions in the main quest so you can pick your preferred style. halfcocked
Maybe a save game is the way forward, but it deletes any immersion accrued in your own game. Hope someone comes up with a "fix"...
