  1. 1. Do you like being forced to worship the deities?

I dislike being forced to worship the deities of the The Nightingales and The Dark Brotherhood.

I'm aware that Gods and Goddesses exist in The Elder Scrolls but I disapprove of exchanging my soul for whatever they offer. I enjoy my freedom.

You become the leader of both these factions at the end of each quest line but it doesn't feel like you're in charge.

I was shocked to see a statue of Nocturnal in the Ragged Flagon Cistern. The main purpose of the Nightingales is to protect Nocturnal and the Twilight Sepulcher but that's not my main purpose. My main purpose is to make money.

The biggest joke was when the main character tells Mercer Frey: "I have honour."

Mercer Frey was practical. A criminal's main purpose is to make money even if that means betraying your business partners. There was nothing wrong with him stealing a magical key that opens any lock. I was unhappy being forced to give that key back to Nocturnal. I was even unhappier when I was rewarded with a pointless power in exchange for my good deed.

The Night Mother tells you who to kill based on whoever prayed to her. I don't like this system. I want to seek out clients without the aid of a grotesque corpse that should be tossed into a volcano. I wouldn't even touch that rotting coffin while wearing gloves, I'd use my levitation magic to throw it in there.

My second character will crush the Dark Brotherhood and any member of the Thieves Guild I'm allowed to kill.

Do you truly dare to oppose the night mother? :|

I know what you mean... but seriously, why did you return the skeleton key to Nocturnal? To this day I am running around picking every lock from Skyrim to Sovngarde. That, in my opinion is your own mistake.

The Night Mother is what separates the Dark Brotherhood from the Companions. Without her the Dark Brotherhood are just some hired goons who dress like kinky sadists.

What?

At first I thought you were complaining about the general pantheon, but how can you complain that you have to worship the Night Mother in order to become the Dark Brotherhood leader? Thats like complaining you have to worship God in order to be the Pope. Worship of the Night Mother is part and parcel of being in the Dark Brotherhood, if you dont like it then dont join.

Another thing that's worth noting is how many Gods/Goddesses you become affiliated with if you do every quest in the game. Nocturnal, Hircine, The Night Mother, etc, etc. They can't all go together like that. An example being that Nocturnal states that after you die, you serve to protect the Twilight Sepulcher, while Hircine states that after you die, you will roam the Hunting Grounds with him, catching prey. You can't worship every God/Goddess without them contradicting and colliding with each other.

Thus, I like to think that because you're Dragonborn, all the Gods and Goddesses make an exception and throw you into Sovngarde,

This argument makes sense... My character spends many of night laying awake, wondering where he will spend eternity. Are there indeed Gods, or only spirits? When death has passed does the soul still endure?

Will I be forever trapped in the void, forever on the hunt, or will I spend eternity in a drunken euphoria? I've sworn my soul to so many gods that I am infinitely in debt, I feel like a soul prostitute.

I gotta say I really had a good laugh when you get to the point where Mercer steals everything and the whole guild is flipping s***. I mean really, you're a thieves guild and you're surprised that the guild master (who I would think would be a damn good thief) stole all your s***?

  • 3 weeks later...

well i am at this thing with Nocturnal wanting me to haunt her temple once i am dead. sorry no deal i took the nightingale armor and run for my life. and if there is some mod i would barricade the entrance to that cave, sorry Brynjolf you should have run with me, away from that crazy elf chick worshiping Nocturnal

had 260k gold before starting thief guild quest line, so i do not need those two. beside with Brynjolf and Kahlia in the cave and mercer on run i am the boss of the thief guild anyway ;)

And then once i am 'finished' then i get 24 stones / have 20 already :) , I will go for dark brother hood, tough I will just kill them all probably. Yeah that Vicci chick is annoying but killing her? nah :)

but then i am at end of game with 250+ hours ... 55 from which was wood cutting to get my 100k initial savings :)

EDIT: do i have to finish the quest line/swore myself to Nocturnal or just 4 special jobs so Brynjolf makes me guildmaster?
