Kalidian
This is an idea more towards the purposes of the immersive or role-playing aspect of the game. Also, I haven't the slightest clue how to create mods, so I'm not sure how hard this would be to create otherwise I'd have a go at it myself. But I would love to see a mod where the player would be able to 'write' notes and/or even books. So many NPC's have their own journals (why can't I have my own?), and there appear to be blank rolls of paper, parchment, etc. as well as quills and inkwells all over the place so I'm amazed that the usefulness of these items is limited to "aesthetic clutter". To be able to scribble down quest notes, locations to explore or check out in an in-game journal, alchemy recipes that you discover, etc... that would be incredible. It'd also be really cool - in a shameless nerdy way - to be able to place your custom forged, enchanted (and named), unique weapon in a display case, along with your own written book describing the gruesome history and ancient legend behind the weapon (or armour). Thoughts? Ideas? Post. edit: found a previous post with a similar idea (http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/487244-writing-your-own-books/page__p__3986535__hl__notes__fromsearch__1#entry3986535) so I'll just consider this a reiteration of what would be an awesome feature to add via a mod or (if Bethesda reads these forums) a patch. JMMcNemo
I'd use it. Marking down dungeons I want to go back to, or which ones to avoid until I level up some, would be fantastic. And, because wishing is free, it'd also be cool to be able to take a journal from one game and have it be an item in your next playthrough-- Maybe you could find it in one of the purchased houses, "left behind by the previous owner" or "at the bottom of a chest bought at a yard sale", or something. That way you can remember the choices you made and can work to make different ones, or find your way back to that awesome weapon, or whatever. PaladinRider
I'm not sure if there'll be a capable string keyboard buffer able to paste words on the map.. I can see custom map markers that's always been done. Even though there are keyboard inputs for the Name, enchanting, etc. I think its hardcoded. hopventure
I was thinking about this just the other day when I came across a dead NPC with a piece of charcoal and a notebook next to him in a Dwemer ruin!I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this! I would love to write notes about how one character or another ended up being captured at the beginning and then chronicling their adventures through Skyrim. You could put conditions on it that you need a special journal or paper and a quill and ink/piece of charcoal.
JMMcNemo
I'm not sure I'd like conditions to writing in the journal... Maybe there could be two versions, one being just a journal with benefits, the other being the conditional one?
