stratopwn3r
The Trojan war has got to be one of the most well known wars in history. That is why I want to lead a group of modders to make history into a game. Now I want to know if you guys think it's a good idea or not and if enough say 'yes' then I think Ill start recruiting. J3X
to much work and it don't fit in the TES lore. And great battles will bring your computer down.
ninja_lord666
The most well known war in history is WWII. Many people don't even know Troy exists; most of the people who do know of Troy only know so vaguely; The only people who actually know anything substantial about the Siege of Troy are history buffs and school children who happen to be learning it that week. Everyone knows about WWII. As for your idea, don't even try it.First, you'd need custom meshes and textures for:TroyGreek boatsTrojan HorseTroy armour and weaponsGreek armour and weaponsand possibly other small things I can't think of at the moment.Next, you'd need to find some way to circumvent the 20-30 NPC 'limit.' If you have more than that, the game will really lag bad, especially in an exterior cell. Also, you'll need to preform all the necessary scripting for a mod of this size, which, to say the least, is a lot.The hardest problem, though, is real life. Most large mods fail because real life gets in the way: schoolwork, jobs, significant others, unforeseen family issues, etc.
Chesto
' Better not to start. If one starts, better to finish': Buddhist saying in relation to seeking Enlightenment. As to TROY!, I would say YES, better to start. You may be hit over the head with the Lore Cudgel +4, and it may be a LOT of work, but what the hey!. If you limited it to, say, Odysseus landing, with his crew, on the shores of Cyrodile and then..., you would immediately cut down on the crashing numbers problem. Other people have introduced Roman armors, etc, to the game ,why not Ancient Greek/Trojan, and in a smallish mod with a quest line. I would be delighted to play as Ancient Greeks in this land. Go for it. CLASSICS ROOLS!

Chesto
Perhaps, at this stage of your campaign, you might want to reconsider the ' poking the naysayer with a stick' strategy. Would like to see your idea get more votes, so lose the negative urges and concentrate on what ever positive ideas you may have. Maybe narrow your focus down from the whole 'Trojan Wars' and pick one aspect that could work, and that might appeal to ' the voters'. Course, I'm not the boss of you. Just seems a shame to sully what could be a good concept by having rows at the gitgo.
MasterAub
I voted no and here is why? What is Troy: In Greek mythology, the Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by the Achaeans after Paris of Troy stole Helen from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta. Enough of History...What it means is that the Trojan War is an Epic War... Did you see any big scale battle in Oblivion? No you did not...Why didn't you see this? Because unless you play on a NASA computer with 3 GTS 8800 and 6 giga in triple channel it wont run properly. So what do you mean by a Troy mod? If it's to bring armors and weapons of mythological Greece in Oblivion I say why not (personally I would not be interested but that's me). If it's to bring a scenario as displayed above I say why not (that is more interesting to me). But if it is to bring a big scale battle of Troy in Oblivion I say maybe you should wait until TES 5 or 6 is release when it might be possible to do big scale...Right now it is just NOT possible Sorry to break it down to you like this but you should refine your idea and propose something that is actually feasible... My 2 cents of course
Chesto
Hey Strato. Where are you my main man? You got to sell this puppy if you want to make it happen. Don't let this die the death on the drawing board because you got some negative feed back. And, really, when it comes right down to it, if YOU think it's a good idea go for it. Put some ideas in here, tickle the fishys. Wake the people up! :verymad:
samroski
Sorry to inform you that I voted no. I have nothing against Troy- but with dozens of others mods uploaded daily I do not think I'd try one called Troy. Also you have failed to explain in detail what you plan to include in the mod... ("history into a game" does not convey much to me)
