I don't see why a mod author would mind if someone repacked their mod into 64 bit and just wanted to upload it, if it was me I'd say no problem; all the credit for the mod is still going to the author, all the person who uploaded the repacked file did was just that, repack and upload the file.

I don't see why you would mind me going into your room, taking all of your possessions, then giving them to homeless people. If it were me, I'd say no problem. All the credit goes to you. All that I would be doing is taking something that is yours that I have no right to, repacking it and giving it to other people. :pirate:

Thats kind of extreme, and boldly inaccurate.

I'd have access to "your room" and everything in it if I had the 32 bit skyrim key, but Bethesda has epistemologically moved all your stuff to the 64 bit penthouse, and I want in.

So, if some random dude hands me the 64 bit penthouse key that you already gave everyone the 32 bit version of, who cares? All he did was update and copy the room key; It's not as if I'm doing anything I wouldn't have already been doing with your stuff, its still your stuff and you have full control over it, I'm just asking for keys to Bethesda's new penthouse

People like you make me not want to share my mods publicly, bravo

I'm still not getting how you're getting offended by me and how repacking a file in 64 bit is theft if all credit and recognition goes to the mod author, but since multiple people have informed me its against the TOS to do so, I have no intention of doing it.

It was just an idea about how to transition to the new exe using old mods, but it would seem in Bethesda's ideal situation, all modders would just have to start over.

Again I didn't mean to offend you and if you don't want to share your mods thats on you, I'm sure I'll be able to get through life without them.

How do you not get it yet.

If you for example made candy bars, you are still doing stuff with them like new tastes (you are still active modding). Them someone takes a whole pack and sell it (he gets endorsements, views, DLs, maybe a hot file.) and say it ok, cus your name on it. All without you knowing or saying anything.

Not only that, they can't really handle it when people came up and ask ( feed back about bugs and whatever.)

Just let the modders port the mods, unless they state that it ok to for my you to port it.

Mod users like you could totally get by without me sharing my mods, but with me, you would be losing someone that knows how to script, quest, texture, 3d model, landscape, level design, creature design, weapon design, with the support of professional voice actors and a professional composer. I can see how that might not seem like you're missing out on much. But I am only one modder that can be put off by opinions and understanding like yours. There is an extensive list of modders, many of whom have already left that can not be replaced. I will not mention their names, but I will list what they contributed.

Creator of 10000 new animations.

Professional textures replacer that some consider vital assets to the game and one of the best.

Professional clothing and armor modeler that put triple A game developers to shame.

A modder who has been in the Community since Morrowind, making mods for each title that are loved and cherished by many.

Completely redesigned one of the bodies in a way that seems impossible, no one could ever the same.

I don't care if you miss out on my mods either to be honest, but, can you try to at least pretend that you respect mod authors. I don't want to loose any more irreplaceable talent.

We mod authors don't really get much, other then a nice comment every now and then. Having a bit of common decency would go a long way, and also encourage private modders to share there mods.

I'll rephrase. People like you seal the faucet of talent, creativity and new/exceptional mods. Try and be a bit more thankful and a lot less gimme gimme.

look, I appreciate all of you and everything you do, I've spent a lot of time with the created content you all so graciously made for all of us to enjoy. I am fully aware you don't get any compensation or incentives from Zenimax or any of their affiliates; these plugins and 7zip files are all labors of love, I get it. That part I get.

I was just asking about mods for SE because in the other thread some people were saying anything with a BSA file should still be compatible with SE, but we would have to manually repack it. I thought that if someone (or a team of trusted modders and nexus users) could do all the repacking for us officially, with permission from everyone, and then upload it to the new site it would be pretty neato.

Perhaps I wasn't clear, I am not endorsing or condoning theft of your content in any way shape or form.

I fail at thought to text most times, so no hard feelings. I can't speak on behalf of all modders, but there is a lot more to it, then all modder just agreeing to that. It's really important that the mod author does the porting. Users will not get proper support if they are being hosted by someone else. There are a number of reasons why you'll have to wait for some mods and a number of reasons why you just won't see them at all.

Some Authors are excited about this change and what it 'could' bring to modding, others are apprehensive, and others are opposed, as with most things. Some modders have given up on modding for a number of reasons and have no interest in their mods going to a new iteration. Others are away on work and won't be back in a timely manner, some will require mod compatibility, mod play testing. There are a lot of questions that have still not been answered like how the new face geoms will work, what changes they have to characters, what mods will break and so on.

Unfortunately Bethesda made a very limited selection to who could get early access to SSE, and the new CK, opting to have hundreds of youtubers and twich users over mod authors. I signed up for beta the day it was announced but did not get it. I don't know what kind of work will be needed to port my mods. I don't know if they can be ported. If they can be ported properly, how much work will it require? Is it worth the effort? That sort of thing.

It is just safer to let modders do with their mods that they see fit, for those reasons and because it is for them to decide. Trying to organize a group to do this would also require permissions from all those modders, if those modders plan on porting, they can do it better and more efficiently than anyone else.

Users excited for SSE will need to except that there will be some mods that do not get ported and wont.

I do appreciate your first sentence though, so thank you.

I see now logistically with permissions and people that have left modding that my idea wouldn't really be feasible, just based on the way the whole modding community is set up.

It's really on Bethesda; they are the ones driving this bus.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see, thanks for your input and your dedication to modding, I can see just by your responses you feel strongly about the whole thing.
