    • YES! Argonians look and sound better than ever before!

I play mainly Argonians, and the skin and faces are way better than OB. As far as 'hair' - I never looked at it like hair, I thought it was decorations. I'm very glad the crab-like gait is gone - I always felt like a drunk swaying side-to-side, and it was nothing like any kind of lizard.

Voices - don't get me started. I am disappointed with the voices. The best I can say is that the sound of Argonians is as consistent as the sound of other races - i.e. not consistent within the race at all.

I don't like the female ones though. They blatantly skipped effort on them: they use the female human body and have BREASTS.. urgh. Their heads look like they don't even belong on the body.

They've had breasts (at least) since Oblivion, so that shouldn't really be a disappointment. A standard complaint, yes, but it's not unexpected so I'm not sure how it's a disappointment. But yeah, some of them have dinosaur faces stuck on mammal bodies. The slimmer-faced ones aren't so bad because the neck blends more naturally, but the ones that appear to have wider features look distinctly unrealistic.

Some people seem really hung up on the breast thing... Sure, the Argonian's may LOOK like lizzards, but i've heard good arguements that they are actually trees. Either way, they are created, not evolved, so the Hist could have made them look any way they wanted. maybe like half the perverts who make mods, the trees just wanted to see boob.

As far as I remember, they are stated to be lizards in the In-game description on racial selection panel.

i actually think its all the other races that got shafted...

If you look at the starting racial benefits, Argonians get 3 inherent perks:

Histskin which is their racial skill

50% Passive Disease resist

The Ability to breathe underwater

Every other race in the game only gets 2 perks not 3. At this point most people say that waterbreathing isnt that huge a deal and that it is mostly just for immersions sake. BUT

Khajit get 2 perks:

Night Eye which is their racial skill

Claws which adds 15 dmg passive to unarmed attacks.

So claws counts as an actual perk but waterbreathing isnt a huge deal?

Certain rooms that fill with water, make me glad that im playing Godzilla.

It's not just perks, but overall setup. Kajits are ideal assassins, orcs - shield warriors, Altmers - mages. Argorians have one practical perk - Histskin - and awful skill distribution.

The voices are the only part I don't care for.

Just being able to play an Argonian that isn't green/red with red/green eyebrows is a welcomed change of pace. I've never played as an Argonian before, but I certainly plan to after I beat the game the first time. :3 Just wish there were more of them in the game - was 7 hours before I saw one...

You can nearly count the named Argonian NPC on one hand ... ok, two hands.

I have to agree with some stuff, like the feet, but i think, the heads are awesome, a lot better than the Oblivion ones. At least the males. Also they sound nice in the german version of the game, but ... ways to less lines. I run around with the argonian follower and he is using exactly the same phrases like a random enemy argonian and every single argonian npc in the game. It gets annoying after like 5 minutes.

And the argonian females are ... wired. Why exactly do some headstyles look like a tyrannosaurus? I really need a "beautification"-mod for the argonian spouse.

What are you talking about? Look at any lizard, from Komodo dragon to the common house geckos, when they walk their hips swing wildly from side to side with their tails swaying to the opposite direction. Though they mostly walk on all fours in real life. But there's one species of walking lizard that can run in two-leg mode. But the Oblivion argonian walk is what a lizard walking upright ought to walk like. I'm sad to see it go. And breasts on Argonian females are just silly.

thats not really a fair example. Those lizards have evolved to learn how to walk on 2 legs even though their leg structure isnt designed for it. If you look at lizards that ACTUALLY walk on two legs, (T-Rex for instance) you'll notice that they dont do that, and walk kinda normal.
