Annoying clichés in quest mods

For me:

1) Almost any kind of lore-breaking, affects my immersion (yeah yeah, I'm a nerd). That's why I love New Bison Hotel and Saxxon Quests so much, dont even looks like a mod.

2) Sometimes, new weapons and armors. The problem here is: often, these itens are unbalanced, so I have to adjuste in the Geck if I wanna use then, is annoying. Anyway, like I said, SOMETIMES.

3) Talking about unbalanced, I DON'T LIKE FREE STUFFS.

I love, LOVE Delilah the mojave doctor, but I hate how she can cure your rads, health, bones etc for free. I avoid this options. In New Bison Hotel we have the bobbleheads, is fun to look for this toys and we can pick up without add bonus, this is a cool thing.

4) Quest mods that mess up with the status quo of the game. A simple example: I like to be friend of the Legion until the end of the game, when I do Boone's quest. A mod that demand you kill tons of Legions soldiers is a thing that I will dislike.

Thats it. Guess I'm too much selective.

cliches are nothing more than symbols and motifs of stories, art and mythology. Archteypes of human behavior. LOL sorry I was reading a dictionary earlier.

I find I am totally sick of the Everybody dies or gets screwed in the unfun way endings. The Veronica game endings get on my nerves for that reason.

I have to echo this because stuff like this bothers me as well. Especially when stuff lying around is mixed flagged and not flagged, like I think in pretty much all the series, like crops or loose clutter. Like you can take *this* but that one will get you reported! Not quest related exactly... unless you're talking about the much larger quest of the character's life.

Having just played Boulder Dome and Zion Trail, I have a couple of very minor peeves:

1. I understand that factions want to kill each other, and betrayal is a part of that. But when I don't get the option to save a people from extermination just because, it boithers me. Although it was A-OK in Russel because it was so well done in terms of sequence. You just don't have time to save both communities. Also in this is having characters that die no matter what you do, despite it being realistic to save them.

2. When a faction is almost decimated before you even start because they did something unspeakably stupid (the Boulder Dome scientists come to mind).

3. Too many notes left behind. Zion Trail has 42 notes as part of a quest and you're supposed to find each and every last one to get a perk. It takes up a LOT of space on the Pipboy.

4. Mods where all you do is fight. For once I'd like a story driven mod about dealing with the PTSD from all the people even a good Courier has to kill.

For me it's mostly the same things that annoys me in games in general...

1. Key hunts, looking for keys is not fun, if I can't find my car keys in the morning I don't jump for joy at the prospect of looking for them, even worse are those they rely solely on the compass to guide the player, if the compass acts up which it can do the player is going to get stuck.

2. Too many locked doors, that lock picking mini game got old about a week after Fallout 3's release, thank god for the skeleton key mod.

3. Unbalanced enemies especially bullet sponges, they don't make fights harder, they just make them longer.

4. No navmesh, navmeshing is easy and an area is not finished without it.

5. Taking control away from the player, this drives me nuts in the vanilla game too, it's why Oliver Swanick and others like him get shot before they get anywhere near me.

I'm seriously surprised no one mentioned Quest Mods that say, "No Companions Allowed". My serious biggest pet peeve. I also get why authors DO it...but I still dislike them to all heck for it. Annoying.

Bullet-Sponge Boss characters with a million hit points or more (exaggerating for comedic effect) also piss me the heck off. Completely unnecessary.

"1) Almost any kind of lore-breaking, affects my immersion (yeah yeah, I'm a nerd). That's why I love New Bison Hotel and Saxxon Quests so much, dont even looks like a mod."

This one's big for me too....only I take it to extremes...the T-60 mod was seemingly made by a British team as every reference to "Armor" was listed as "ArmoUr"...I spent about an hour-and-a-half going through that mod with FNVEdit removing every "U" I could find in that word. Looking back on it, I feel like it was excessive of me, but it REALLY ruined my immersion for that mod. The armor was made in the US, and we say "Armor" here, simple as that...if this game were set in the UK and a character said, "Remove the stuff from the TRUNK ("boot") of the car, take it up the ELEVATOR ("lift") to my APARTMENT ("flat")", it'd be completely out of place. No offense to any Brits reading this, but the game IS set in the US, so characters should speak like we do here and naming of articles should follow, unless, of course, the character is British itself. (shrugs shoulders)

Mods that remove all your equipment annoy me too.

I remember a quest mod that literally took EVERYTHING from me and provided me only with a stat-modified Combat Knife...wound up fighting 4 Lakelurk clones ("clones" meaning they were Lakelurks, but named something different in the mod). I somehow won, but was reduced to literally ONE HP...found a Medicine Box, but it was locked...and the mod took all my Bobby Pins away too. All-Locks-Force-Open-At-100%-Mod for the WIN!!

Mods where characters say something different from what's captioned on the screen.

I run my game with captions turned on in case I miss something someone says, I then see it in print on-screen. Or if a voice actor talks too fast or unintelligible, I can read it and still know what's being said. It's annoying when the voice actor says, "Meet me out behind the dinosaur in Novac.", but the caption on-screen says, "I'll be waiting by Dinky; don't make me wait long." And yah, it can get that bad. :/

Finally...mod authors, PLEASE use Spell-Check. :P Tho it DOES make Al Chestbreach's mod reviews on YouTube all the funnier when he pronounces the words WITH the misspellings deliberately. :)

Use the console to get them back, it's what I do with the DLCs, it's not so much of a problem these days though as I use custom companions who tend to turn up in the DLCs anyway.

Yeah mostly because it undoes all your hotkeys, thankfully there's a mod that stops your stuff being taken away in the casinos, Fort, Silver Rush.

I rarely play quest mods, but I do like to watch Al playing them.
Thing that I dislike is when mod authors put tons of enemies on screen at once and the framerate dips into single digits. The engine simply cannot handle that and no matter how strong PC you have, it'll run like crap.

+1 for Key hunts, I hate them.

Bullets sponges mostly suck, artificial lazy difficulty scaling. Same approach Bethesda takes, it's just lazy most of the time. As an author I notice some folks complain enemies are too hard in some of my mods, my response to that it use everything at your disposal. Sometimes a player doesn't think and wants to rambo through everything without any attention paid to use the things in the game that can make them ridiculously OP. Take those chems, use the correct ammo, stop wearing that merc outfit with 5 DT and don't run into an area designed for level 30 at level 2.

+1 for navmeshing, I don't understand mod authors that don't do this.

Mods that obviously haven't been tested, wtf? I use very few quest mods for this reason.

Low quality Voice Acting. I can't STAND popping and clicking and background noise, inconsistent levels, and snot nose 14 year olds voicing characters. I prefer no VA to poor quality VA.

Overuse of fetch quests, again something bethesda does because wtf, and quest mods do it too. I don't want to hike all the way across the map to get your milk. Which leads me to...

Ignoring players who DON'T FAST TRAVEL. I don't fast travel, ever. I can't stand when something makes me hike to the other end of the map and back, and then makes me do it AGAIN right after. AAAAAAARGH.
