Nav Mesh mod.

Hi, Ive been thinking alot about this, since this is a very big problem for me, I wanted to ask some possibilities.

My greatest problem is that, the settlers are unable to use the buildings I build, no matter how big or vast the hall ways are, some structures such as 1x1 concrete and stackable concrete foundations etc, dont have proper nav mesh.

My question would be, Is it possible to make a mod, which allows the user to place INVISIBLE, yet navmesh compatible block type areas which allows the settlers to recognize where is wall, where is ground. So the settlers wont smash their heads into walls trying to get through it, since they will constantly be reminded that its a non passable terrain by the mod.

Please guys, mod community is amazing, yet we know bethesta hardly improved the settlement and settler system since the beginning, and the vanilla was even problematic, now with the mods and the new magnitude of our structures, its just not flowing anymore. We need to improvise a solid answer to this problem.

thanks for reading I hope someone will take notice of this post, or even care to reply me with some answers.

I assume you're using building components from a mod like Homemaker? Because all vanilla structural building components do have navmesh built in. Snap n' Build also has navmesh, as does anything produced by StuykGaming, Ethreon and DDProductions83. I suggest getting better mods to build with. All three of the mod authors I suggested have great mods with structural building materials.

Edited to add that Settlement Supplies Expanded apparently offers similar content to Homemaker and even better has been updated by Ethreon.

my settlement is already complete, it has around 100 hours of work in it believe me its not something simple, but I used the snapping concrete mod. I just want to know If I can use some third party program or something to remake the navmesh. Because Its impossible for me to reconvert the blocks. Even If I wanted to, the mods I used are the only mods that match the color of the design.

these are ddproductions83 mods.. yet somehow my settlers cant navigate in these mods. There are no other mesh to interrupt the navigation. Its only the blocks for now. yet I still have the problem.

Ive never used the creation kit but, would it be possible for me to load my sanctuary settlement design into this kit and navmesh it and reload ingame? Ive seen some videos about how navmesh works but all of the videos were about the buildings that were made IN the creation kit, they werent loaded..

If the navmesh wasn't included I'm fairly sure the mod's comments section would be full of complaints about it. Not to mention that DDProductions is not a slouch about modding things properly. I downloaded and tested Stackable Concrete Foundations and tested it in my game and it works just fine for me. I was able to tell my companion to stand on and walk over both the plain concrete and the concrete with wood floor top Shack Foundation versions (under Structures>Wood>Floors) that his mod made stackable. So most likely you have some sort of odd conflict or problem that isn't related to those specific mods.

This seems more like a complaint about AI not navemesh, Beth's "Artificial Intelligence" has never been all that intelligent. Not really their fault in games of this size and scope but NPC's will do odd things. Try walling in Sanctuary hill, if the AI pathing tell the NPC they an walk outside of the wall they will teleport through it to get to where they need to go.

there are some reasons for this such as when the player is not in the cell NPC movement is calculated differently then when they are in the cell. This is partly a performance thing.

I've used those mods before, never had any problems.

Maybe post some screen shots where you're having trouble?

Do they have proper access to the buildings; stairs/steps/etc.?

NPC's also have difficulty with certain doors/doorways. I very seldom ever use doors myself, mostly only the large ones like in the warehouse section.

As far as them constantly trying to walk through walls, they always do that when you first build something, over time they start to path better, even then there's always that one dummy that never seems to get it.

I agree with Chucksteel about A.I., for Bethesda A.I. stands for "Absolutely Ignorant", they never take the path of least resistance, they take the shortest distance between two points, walls or no walls.

I'm not aware of any ability to load a save game into the CK, if anyone ever figures that out I'd love to hear about it. ;)

Is it possible for me to upload this save file into Creation kit and look on the navmesh of the current building I have?

I use too many mods, I'm aware, but conflict? I dont know, I dont have anything that interferes settler AI, or anything with the concrete foundations..
