Is it possible to get super rich without alchemy?

this is very easy actually:

Thieves guild jobs(pay depends on level)

Woodcutting(5 gold per log I believe)

mining/smelting/smithing(anything up to 1k for a good peice of armour)

enchanting(Talos knows how much this'd get you)

Jarl stewards 'jobs', typically clearing bandits(i've gotten a good 2k from one set, and then more from selling the loot from the bandits)

ad infinum

all you have to do is look, it's probably possible to get a good 100k without lifting a weapon, but it'd take a while.

collect loads of dwaven scrap, smelt it, one dungeon got me like 50 ignots or more, then craft tons of helmets or something.

transmute ore into gold.

sell the hundreds of potions you find.

enchant/improve all the random loot.

At the end of the day you are basically limited to vender gold.

I can't really say how the alchemy is the best (I mean fastest) way to get rich since I haven't met any merchant with more than 1100 gold, but it's for sure the best in the ratio of item weight and value. But personally I earned money in another way: I collected all the daggers i was finding in the loot, enchanted it with petty, lesser and common soulgems (also had plenty of them and since I used a bound sword they were always full). Thus I reached two goals - level-up enchanting and earn enough money to buy all the houses in the game I wanted.

You can also try crafting jewellery. It's also pretty easy to find components - gold ore can be transmuted from iron ore using transmute spell. And there are many gems in the loot or found as products of ore-mining. But this can get pretty boring if you don't have a lot of magicka.

Also a good way in the beginning of the way is to earn money chopping the firewood. I spent something like 20 real-life minutes chopping the wood to earn 3000 i was lacking to buy the first house in the game. This is also a pretty boring process, but you can have a cup of tea whilst doing so ;)

And a useful tip - since the prices are affected by speechcraft - don't forget to go get blessing of Zenithar (10% better prices) or Dibella (+15 speechcraft), also get a blessing if there's an altar near (for example, if you're in Solitude, there are altars of 8 divines) and find a local beggar and give him/her a coin) - Gift of charity - another +10 speechcraft temporarily. Of course, you don't need all these if you are selling porions worth something like 5k gold, since the merchants don't have sufficient funds anyway.

What cities have altars to Zenithar and Dibella? if I might ask?

As I said, Solitude has got both altars at the temple of divines, Markarth has also got Dibella altar at the Temple of Dibella. The other shrines, I'm afraid, are located out of the cities and I don't remember for the exact locations, I don't care much for getting all possible bonuses when selling the loot. I use Dibella's amulet and gift of charity mostly. And a potion of haggling (also gives better prices) if I have any.

Doing the Thieves Guild quests is the best non-cheesy way to make money. You'll obviously make a lot of money in the course of the questline, which is actually a very good story anyway and you'll end up with the Nightingale armour everyone orgasms over, but doing the guild improvement quests as well means you'll eventually have a lot of merchants scattered around who will take stolen goods AND have 4000 gold. The 4000 gold is an incredible benefit since you no longer have to faff around trying to sell your piles of loot to merchants who can't afford it without you wasting perks in Speech to be able to invest in them. You can pick up damn near everything in the knowledge you can easily sell the whole lot.

Thing is, my current character is a Nord 2H warrior and I don't plan on doing the Thieve's Guild Quest for her...
