Most dragons in mythology never had wings, particularly in norse and viking folklore, commonly depicted with wings is a later romance era kind of thing. And where is this drake in mythology?

We live in 2011. We talk about terms today. I really couldn't care less if they called them hobos and they had 1 legs back with the Vikings, it is irrelevant.

Dragons are a fantasy creature, so they are loose stuff.

Also, most dragons in Norse and viking lore were serpents, not dragons. They had almost no resemblens with how they are today.

A good example is Jormundgard. A dragon of the Norse mythology, called the "World Serpent".

Or Fanir, another serpent. Also noted as a dragon.

We then got Niðhöggr, I hope that is spelled right, which I believe had wings. I am not 100% if he had wings or not, but I believe he did.

My point still stands, and this is terms, not mythology, we speak of.

If mythology is irrelevant, your entire thesis is broken. And thus you are randomly making things up.

My point was to try and join your points, using what I know, to prove my point.

Honestly, I find mythology to be irrelevant to what terms are used to it. Sure, that's where we get it from, but now it got a life of its own. I could probably name games that got their own dragons, as much as I could with mythology. Both are as accurate as the other.

For me, and people from where I live, it's what I listed. It seem to hold true for a lot of places, exept the east -- where dragons doesn't got wings.

Well, this is getting kind of off topic now. I'll just leave, and people can take what I said with a grain of salt and decide themself.

Dragons don't always have wings and 4 legs is all I am saying.

Which I agree on. It will depend on where you are from, how you look at it and how strict you set your own names. For me, it is not a dragon without 4 legs and wings. It is a drake if you take of the wings. If you take off 2 legs, it becomes a dinosaur. If you then add wings, it becomes a Wyvern.

I am aware that "Drake" is rarely used, and "dragon" is more used. Because in the end, "dragon" is an universal name for about everything related to them." If it spits fire it's a dragon". So there is really no wrong in calling it X or calling it Y. The game calls Wyvern for Dragons, for instance. Nobody can complain.

Though this got me thinking, Skyrim is based of Norse mythology: Where is the serpents? As most dragons in that Mythology are serpents. Could make a nice addition.

I've modelled the forelegs.

I'll post a pic tommorrow.

For now I'll put this thread to rest, probably until the Creation Kit comes out.

Why? Because I won't know what animations are what until the Creation Kit comes along.

But don't worry I'll stil post changes I've made to the model, and also be on the lookout for other types of Dragons. 8)
