My Level is Too Freakin High

So, evidently my dicking around with the crafting system and killing stuff in the northern part of the map for the past few days has pushed me past level 50. Cool, right? Yeah, no. I head down to Boston to handle an old quest or two, and almost INSTANTLY waves of overpowered enemies start spawning in over and over again! I can't even wipe one wave of super-powered gunners before freakin mirelurks start erupting from the street, and raiders in power armor start blasting at me from behind. My supped up plasma rifle barely scratches the suckers.........and then the Mutant Suiciders decide to join in. Seriously, is this NORMAL for level 50, and if so, PLEASE tell me there's a way to stop it! Cause right now, it looks like I'm going to have to start over from scratch, and try to start hitting story missions one after the other if I hope to explore them before the sky starts raining MURDER. ><

That's when its fun. High enough level to spawn tough bad guys but not so high and mighty nothing can stop you. I took a couple up past 100 after that its time to start a new one. That many different bad guys ganging up sounds like just bad luck. Wrong place at the wrong time. Often if you stay hidden they will kill each other off in those situations

Overleveling due to crafting is a common complaint with FO4, it's too late for your current character as Bethesda will not allow you to lower your level but for future playthroughs you might want to install a mod that removes XP from crafting.

I have read that the levels increase enemy difficulty each 10 levels up to 50. Then every 25 levels. If you are at level 50 you are at the very start of a difficult run of enemies. That will make you weaker but the enemies will be stronger. IMO this is a good thing and you should enjoy it while you can. Soon you will be easily killing things again.

For now though you may need to use tactics and planning, and possibly running while screaming like a little girl. :) Again enjoy it while you can.

I wanted to play a Jack Bauer type, so I started my current playthrough at level 181. I'm now level 218, with most perks maxed out. I've also modded all weapons to do 150-200% of vanilla damage. Finally, I have a mod that lets me do double damage and the enemies quadruple damage... Have to say, the combat is great fun and very dangerous for both me and the bad guys. Obviously, there's a lot of legendary spawns, but there's also a fair few low level enemies too. It feels really well balanced. I've had a fair few mega-battles where me and my team (I normally travel with 3-4 companions) are being attacked on multiple fronts - I've had instances where I'm having to deal with super mutants, synths, gunners, raiders, and killer robots all at once. Inner cities are particularly dangerous. There have been a couple of times where I've died so quick that I didn't even have time to figure out what killed me!

about 45-65 is the level limit for the types of enemies that spawn getting harder

well, this is what I see when I go through FO4edit, because I think I corrupted some files and I crash due to certain things that I've been sorting through and fixing up a bit
so I got a good glimpse at a lot of levels of spawns

hp pools should be skyrocketing as you get more levels, do you have anything that keeps health pools flat?
like brutality?
unmodded fallout gets damage sponging
I went to survival mode after the update for new variant survival came out, but was on hard mode because the damage sponging was annoying from the getgo
observe: the goals section at the top of this mod's page

this is also a skyrim issue although not as bad

It's not perfect, but @ level 176 entering the wasteland from Vault 111 bumps the encounter zone up a little bit, and after a cell reset there are at least some semi dangerous spawns. You know instead of it being all level 1. Though you would need a clean savegame an legacy system in order to do that, like uh, ~player.getav experience && ~player.modav experience # Then a batch file to run to get the crafting materials back. Works wonders on getting rid of the annoying part of FO4 or that "Whoops I made a mistake" feeling.

Super Mutant Overhawl comes in next, not sure the others are any good in comparison, so personally I leave the rest alone. WBO & weapon mods + DT added to PA + Stacking clothing buffs/armor with PA buffs/armor + legendary mods ect, the PC goes way past OP an you'll know right away because everything will run screaming from your character. Increasing spawns is a option, but most of the ai does it's calculation of danger based on damage output (I don't actually know anymore) which the Survival Options mod comes in, not really that different than what we were doing (outside of purist) for balance.

So the vanilla 1.50 + .50 + 1.00 vs 2.00 becomes 0.50 + 0.50 + 0.40(min) vs 1.00 To explain, it's not perfect, but adjustable as needed. Survival Options sets the player damage at 0.50 (instead of 1.50), Survival Mode Kills add in another 0.50 in adrenaline bringing the player up to 1.00 ideally, and then only the first two ranks of weapon damage perks are taken from disarm being tied to those melee/unarmed perks (though technically the NPC's don't disarm the player, which is bulls*** if you ask me) for 0.90 - 1.40 player damage which gives low level NPC's 1-3 hits before death and a lot of hits to lower leveled legendary actors.

Then anywhere else on the map or the 3rd party and/or DLC actors, it's impossible ROFL, specially with increased spawns. However all of those NPCs are set to 1.00 damage to allow DT added to Power Armor to do it's job, which will break if you bump the damage up on them. Though I would think player damage would be set at 1.00 when inside Power Armor to go with that. Though it's a hotfix preference to allow a Player Tank vs Non-Player Tank. You know, instead of the more novel set ups, or various fun but old Survival Mode settings.
