ninja_lord666
http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=27642 I'll give you a few minutes to watch that. Go on; I'll still be here. Isn't that frickin' awesome!? :woot: Gaming with your mind! I want it now!!!
IbisOverhead
Yes awesome, Ninja. I wonder how long it will really take before this is all feasible and happening?
ninja_lord666
They said two years in the video for it to be publicly available. I'm just assuming that's for the demo game they were showing. I think it'll at least be another decade before games are fully mind controlled. After all, it took them seven years to get where they are now.
batlham
Holy crap...it is about time.I once got to play with a "mind reader". It was a demo of the technology that someone brought to the college. It just controled a ball on the screen that you could move around. I can't wait for this type of gaming!!! kungfubellydancer
Pretty soon we don't have to have bodies anymore! We just surgically implant our brains into fully operational machines and be cyborgs

ninja_lord666
Pretty soon we don't have to have bodies anymore! We just surgically implant our brains into fully operational machines and be cyborgs :happy:A cyborg is a half man-half robot, like Terminator. What you're suggesting is not necessarily placing our brain in a machine, but placing our memories in a machine. Our memories define who we are. If a machine has someone's memories, that machine is that person; there is no distinction besides the fact that one is flesh and the other is metal. Of course, then you run into the fact that no one with any sense of religion would support that in any way. They already hate cloning, just imagine how much they'd freak out about turning robots into humans. But this is off topic, so let's just stick with the link and games that utilise brainwaves. Vagrant0
Pretty soon we don't have to have bodies anymore! We just surgically implant our brains into fully operational machines and be cyborgs :happy:Nah, there isn't sufficient hardware technology yet. Show me prosthetic limbs which are accurately controlled by brainwaves, and are self-powered, and I'd be willing to accept the idea. By self-powered I mean no battery that needs to be recharged. Afterall, the real limiting factor of any sort of artificial body is the powersource. Nobody would want an artificial body if they had to plug themselves in every few hours (yes, I know we already do that, there would have to be a better alternative, one that doesn't mean death if you happen to delay a recharge). Chesto
That left brain - right brain activity stuff was interesting. Certain brain waves are attained in meditation - what was shown was a kind of contemplation, there is a difference-, and others are attained in everyday actions. Can't remember at the mo which waves are which in each case. Surely the developers would have to build some kind of 'fail safe' system into their programs to compensate for there being too much activity on the 'active' brain wave, and corresponding side of the brain. Otherwise these programs would only be safe for prolonged use by Zen monks and other practitioners of meditation.
Storm Raven
The four major brain waves are; Alpha - Relaxed. Beta – Problem Solving. Theta – Very deep relaxation – Most people only experience in sleep. Delta – The Deepest and most conscious state of mind. Takes years of practice to achieve. The Right/Left sides of the brain theories were replaced some time back. There is a huge complex that connects the two. Almost a third side. Neurologists now focus on the three parts as one system. The Right/Left theories were and still are useful analogies. But a bit passé in research. --- 8) ---
