Thesblah
I haven't found a console command or glitch to keep Meeko or Vigilance in my house. It sort of breaks immersion and I'd like to make my home a little nicer. If anyone would make a mod that allowed you to keep your dog permanently in your house, that would be great. Ideally I'd like it where when they're at your house, it doesn't count as a second companion. (Say you want Vigilance to go on adventures with you, but you keep Meeko home with your husband/wife/housecarl) Thanks.
WatchTheShow
I completely endorse this idea. I have found Meecko (sp?), Vigilance, and the stray dog. Once the stray dog was dismissed, I never saw him again. Once vigilance was dismissed, I found out I had to keep paying 500 septims to get him back again. Once Meecko was dismissed, I just straight up felt bad because his owner is dead and he has no real house to go to :/ Having them go back to any of your houses would be wonderful. One more thing to add though. Once they go back to your house, they need to LIE DOWN! If they're left wandering around inside your house, everything is going to be knocked on the floor by the time you get back.

Loverain
Yes - absolutely, anything that'll allow me to keep the stray dog without having him/her with me at all times. Do you know how hard it is to sneak into someone's home and take their things with a dog? ..but I don't have the heart to throw it back in the wilderness. Not after how we met. (He was fighting a dragon and three wolves for chrissakes) So.. yeah, I've been waiting for a mod like that since release. Even just finding the dog a different home would be fine. MooImmaFish
I wanted this, along with a few other edits/mods for dogs & horses too. I posted a couple days after you (hadn't seen yours), but no one responded so I gave up on the ideas until CK is released, and then I figured I'd try again. But yes, +1. I really want to be able to keep Meeko and/or Vigilance. I have this... thing... about collecting dogs and horses. I've bought every single horse and acquired Frost, Shadowmere, and spawned Karinda. And I have Barbas following me at most times too. On my second save, I've just been using the animal amulet mod and summoning/unsummoning the dog every time I want/dont want it to follow me. JanusForbeare
Have you tried disabling their AI? Just a theory for a band-aid solution, but if you brought them to your home, dismissed them, then opened the console, clicked on them, and typed "tai" they might not disappear. Of course, they won't move, either. At all. Not a great idea, I'll admit, but maybe it's enough for your needs.

I had to resurrect Vigilance once (he ran in after a fort of bandits alone - not my fault) and he wouldn't let me add him back as a follower unless I went to his home and bought him again. If there's an easy way to fix this with the console, then please tell me because disabling the AI would be good enough for me, for now at least. nosisab
The behavior is dictated by their AI packages, with the CS is easy to change them so the dog will go to your house case you have one (much like Lydia's behavior), from the console I believe such can't be accomplished. Yeah, if you follow my advice above you won't be able to get him to rejoin you without rehiring him. Yet another silly choice by Bethesda. Whoever heard of dogs working as mercenaries? TheRenieChan
I hope someone mods this soon. I love my buddy Meeko, but I can't carry him with me on DB or TG quests. It's hard to assassinate/steal with a dog attacking and causing chaos. My little black heart breaks when I see he's gone "home" to his shack and is all alone... :( I wish he could at least go to the last owned house you entered/exited. Even if he just went back to an inn I'd be okay with it. I just don't want him to be alone anymore... tl;dr? I need this mod like a fat kid needs CUPCAKES!!!!!
