How in the ever loving f*** do you guys handle lighting?

You are obviously frustrated, and I can understand why. But you might want to explain the issue you are having and what you are trying to do, maybe include a screen shot if possible. That way some of the brighter folks (pun intended) then myself can help you out. Just sayin...

Sorry, I am frustrated. I'm trying to add just warmer looking light sources to the Hall of Attainment. But no matter what I do, I can't seem to keep them from making a diagonal room turn red. Even when I hit L, none of the radius' are overlapping each other so I just don't get it. I'll likely just go back to vanilla lighting.

Skyrim: SE:

Or is lighting this freakin' aggravating?

Yes it is.

I hate lighting as I have the same problem debugging it all the time. Like in one of my taverns where there is a candle on every table and having a small light over each candle creates a gorgeous atmosphere. Can't do it though, even with the radius set to almost zero and really low brightness, it still had the area in the red zone. I end up with a couple of bulbs lighting the whole area and it does not make a good atmosphere.

I frequently back up the mod, 'initially disabled' all the vanilla light bulbs and move them right out of the way. Then try to redo the lighting from scratch, with mixed results.

I can definitely relate here. Lighting is my modding nemesis.

When they promised SSE, I was hoping we'd get Skyrim on Fallout's engine so we could do some real atmospheric lighting but nooo, f*#@ dat s#*! said Bethesda, and still imposed the 4 shadow casting lights per cell limit on us.

IN 2016 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD BETH
