HadToRegister
I also use a savegame manager so when I start a new character, they start with their own save folder instead of just adding their saves on top of a ton of saves in the default folder. Hidole555
What I did first was that I uninstalled my game, then did a fresh reinstallation, and decided to incorporate only the mods I really enjoyed or found useful. Then, I went into my savegame folder, and removed all but my 5-6 most recent gamesaves along with all the autosaves and quicksaves present. COMIC SAAAAAAANNS!!http://static4.fjcdn.com/comments/COMIC+_fddcb044ac52ecf560a05d6343a72a8a.jpg But that does sound like a really nice fix. I'll try reinstalling my game as a last resort since it takes a while for me. Edited December 27, 2011 by Hidole555
Wideload
Started a new character a few days ago, 31 hours in now and i started getting random CTDs, beware them, for they are random. Seriously though, Bethesda needs to release a hotfix or something. It started just outside Whiterun Stables, was buying a horse for fun (Never use it though) and when i got on the horse it disappeared, as if i was floating, as soon as i moved, i got CTD. So yeah, invisible horses are bad news.
gigantibyte
Well, I guess my habit of making new characters before the previous one hits level 40 is the way to go. My love of starting anew has accidentally defeated the dreaded Savegame Bloat Monster! I only wish the reward for that wasn't a crappy smithing skill. Could we make a character importer? Save just the character stats and bring them into a new game.

HadToRegister
Out of curiosity, how many people in this thread with random CTD's overclock their CPU/Graphics card? systems?
gigantibyte
There's already a character exporter/importer Thanks for the tip. Let's see... 400 hours divided by about 50 days since the game was released... that's 8 hours of Skyrim a day! And after 400 hours there's still quests? blattgeist
Yes, in taverns. Go find that bandit leader and kill him. My savegames are about 11mb in size, no crashes so far.
Kodiak412
No overclocking here. Let's see... 400 hours divided by about 50 days since the game was released... that's 8 hours of Skyrim a day! And after 400 hours there's still quests? LOL, I had about 9 straight days (vacation) where I would log about 18 hours a day on the game. I slept about 5 hours and woke up to repeat. Also I am the recon type player. I spend hours looking for patterns and alternate ways of doing things. I just don't like to take a mace and bash my way through a dungeon in 15 minutes. I also enjoy just walking from place to place. No hurry for me. I still have half the college quests, DB quests and half the main quest too. I haven't looked at the civil war quests. This land is so large you really can spend untold hours in the game without really advancing much. Now if I can just figure out how to get that Hroki to marry me, I wouldn't even leave the house much. :)
dianacat777
You know, I'm nearing 200 hours, and I've been experiencing considerably more CTDs than I used to, usually in the middle of random actions (unsheathing a wep, making a potion). I used to never get crashes.
