So how fares the Romance mods?

"if a player wants/needs a Bioware experience to be happy they should go play a Bioware game."

That, there, is what all the people asking for various new features should get. If you want to play that type of game, go play those games..

I disagree with this. Beth is the one who introduced these new features (romance, settlements, etc.). They just didn't do it very well.

Like cossayos has said several times before, if they weren't going to do it properly, why do it at all? Personally, I'm fine without the romance aspect. But if Beth wants it to be part of their game, then they could have made something of it. As it stands, for me personally, it feels a little tacked on. That's all.

Having said all that, I've still managed to sink a 1000 hours into this game without completing the main quest, so I'm not gonna complain any more.

Romance is one small aspect of a variety they introduced and are not really great.

A useless aspect as it is. If something is done, better get it done properly, or leave it out. I have no problem with games not including romances. But if they are included, I don't want to have a WTF moment because it's just a pimple on the butt of the game.

I can't really comment - I've only played Skyrim and FO4. It's ironic. In the past, my go-to gaming franchise was Total War. Then they started adding a bunch of not very good new features, so I moved over to Bethesda games - which I really enjoy, but where the 'old hands' appear generally unimpressed with many of the new features creeping in.

The major gripe on my part, but that is for a different thread, is that Bethesda never really evolved as far as roleplaying elements are concerned. They're still the same as they were 14 years ago. Sure they added gameplay elements and polished their graphics, but their storytelling and the world reacting to what you do as a player are pretty much the same as they were in 2002. Which brings me back to this topic. They tag something on because every other company is doing it. Fully voiced, romance, the lot. But they don't invest into these aspects, they're still tagged on and it's still a Bethesda game as it always was.

Which brings us full circle to the whole lack of imagination thing. Honestly, this is the direction most games seem to be going. Christ, Ubisoft has released the same AC game for the past eight years. I tried AC Syndicate the other day, but just didn't have the heart to move it forward, even though it's probably their best game in a while. Anyway, I guess we're getting way off topic...

Frankly, the only reason why I still keep buying Bethesda games is the thriving modding community. Back in the day, when modding was easier, I created some simple mods myself.

Bethesda games are fun on their own, but FO4 costs about 65 at release. If I didn't expect modders to add an abundance of contents, I wouldn't have forked out that kind of money.
