gigantibyte
Enjoy Your Crooked back Keyboard is gay for pretty much every thing other then RTS and Clicking s*** :teehee:In an fps pvp, k+m owns everyone using a controller. luxwing0go
I flip-flop between keyboard/mouse and xbox controller. I dunno, after Morrowind and Oblivion, I seem to be biased towards my mouse. (Not to mention I changed the button config to match the old games, hehehe.) The only issue I have with using the keyboard/mouse combo is that, yes... I do tend to hunch over without realizing...first determined that after playing Sim City 4 for three hours straight. Ugh. The icy-hot patches... But, with a controller, I lean back when I play. Not just on computer games, but any games. Seems kinda funny when you realize this... On my next playthrough (we always know there will be a next playthrough), I think I'll try playing straight controller for a while. See if it works out better. :

Astaril
My first post ever and I just couldn't resist jumping on the forums after reading this... If it isn't trolling then I don't know what it is tbh. If you'd have said that you just prefer controller to K/M, then that would have been an acceptable opinion, but to say it is better generally is blasphemous. Also down right stupid tbh. yeah right, posting alt tbfh. Edited January 1, 2012 by Astaril

I'd rather use a controller but that is a personal choice. Keyboard on my lap with mousepad+book beside me on the couch. Quite comfortable actually. My ideal setup would be on a recliner with 2 telescopic swivel arms holding trays for the keyboard and mouse. The recliner would be good but your current option doesn't sound so comfortable to me (a bit cramped actually). I'd rather simply hold a controller in my hands. In an fps pvp, k+m owns everyone using a controller. Have fun getting frag'd. I personally don't care about online gaming and FPS or PVP so I don't need to be able to compete with kids with some fancy gaming keyboard and a faster than light mouse. Given how much comfort I get from using a controller I have to say that for me it is the better option for playing games like Skyrim.

What s*** old pc fps poor people play Name any online FPS on PC that can be played with both devices and I'll hand you your ass in it over and over again. If Skyrim Online PvP combat is ever released, I'll be behind you faster than you even can turn around. Nothing offers more accuracy than a mouse. Shantih
I sincerely hope that Bethesda will never make their games multiplayer. In fact I utterly loathe multiplayer, it's like having to share your private pool with a band of uncouth gatecrashers. I have a real couch, not an armchair. If you claim that it's comfortable to have a keyboard on your lap and to have to a book "sitting" next to you just to be able to use a mouse then I guess we simply have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

If you lounge rather than sit, my setup would not work for you. But if you sit, try this: sit back (use a foot stool if you want to put up your feet) and put one hand on your knee, and let your other arm fall back at your side, laying your hand on the cushion beside you. Is that uncomfortable? Now imagine a high definition laser mouse under that hand that doesn't require much arm movement. If the keyboard slides, you could always put a small bed cushion under it, but I never have a problem. It allows me to position my arms independent of each other, whereas a controller would keep them locked together. Edit: come to think of it, with duel wielding, this game would been more fun on the wii if it could have handled the graphics... and a major gameplay overhaul... thesapien
Without analog controls on the keyboard, its true that I don't have access to intermediate speeds, but I do have run (normal), sprint (alt), walk (shift or caps), slow (crouch + shift or caps). Those 4 are all one really needs, and gaining intermediate speeds are not worth giving up mouse-look. Not only that, if the game was designed for intermediate speeds all it will take is for someone to create a mod for it to be controlled by the keyboard or mouse wheel. Is there 3rd person camera zoom with the controller? I'm sure it could be assigned but can you spare the buttons? Yes, the default setting for zoom I actually learned from someone else in these forums. You just hold down RS and zoom with the LS. Aside from missing out on unnecessary intermediate speeds, I would be sad to give up my slow motion movements. In 3rd person, it's cool moving very slow because your character still animates in slow motion, especially kewl with explosions behind you or while absorbing souls and such. Inching forward while sneaking in slow motion around scary corners, way kewl too. I can understand this is no big deal to others. Mostly, I just wanted to point this out in response to others claiming a keyboard is more fluid than an analog controller. I don't think they have even tried something like a driving game with a keyboard and mouse vs a controller, where one is full throttle or none at all while the other gives you a full range. Just occurred to me, I don't know if I'd enjoy riding a horse as much with a keyboard and mouse, either.
phaota
The word is "cool", not "kewl". Who started that misspelling anyway? Driving with the keyboard/mouse is feasible, but not very fluid. Using a controller or steering wheel peripheral is definitely the way to go in that area.
