flintlock or a crossbow?

If crossbows were dual wieldable would they fall under the archery skill when using them? Also what ammo do we use? The arrows already in game or are you going to add crossbolts in there as well? It's a cool idea though.

I'm confused though, how does one dual wield crossbows, wouldn't a crossbow require two hands?

I'd say crossbow, because I agree with all the statements that they were in Morrowind, and the Skyrim Centurion Spheres have them.

But, as for the flintlocke, with the picture as shown, I think it would be an awesome addition. However...

If somehow you could make the flintlocke require TWO ammo types to fire ONE shot. You would need gunpowder and pellets. Pellets could be rare and forgable. But gunpowder could be extremely, extremely rare. Thus, giving you a fairly good ranged weapon, that, let's say, ignores armor, but you have an extremely limited amount of usage from it.

Dunno... the flintlocke would look cool though.

The game already has salt and charcoal, two of the three components of blackpowder, the third is sulphur. You could use an alchemists bench. For the shot, you use the blacksmith forge and iron I guess, something heavy (corundum?). Corundum is combined with iron to make steel, even though real steel is iron and 1% carbon.

As an aside, I recently discovered that malachite (ingame for making glass armour and weapons) is actually the ore that copper comes from. Kind of ironic really. Copper is known for being a soft metal, unable to hold an edge. Had to be combined with 10%-20% tin, to make bronze.

Might be an idea to make them similar to arrows: Iron arrows, Ebony arrows, Elven arrows, etc. with different damage levels.

An advantage with firearms could be flatter trajectories in flight, can't dodge, more damage, longer range, target staggers, but much longer to reload, no sneak attacks. Could be good balance.

Only when re-cocking the bolts. After it has been reloaded, you can hold a crossbow in each hand.

I don't really get all the animosity that's shown towards black-powder weapons, especially when a book in daggerfall(Elder Scrolls II around 230 years ago) implies that cannons exist.

Not only that... but look at what the Dwemer have!

Plus, it doesn't even have to be black powder. It could be soul gem/magic operated no?

Either way, I would love a flintlock pistol/musket.

Guns would completely ruin the feel, I'd agree with crossbows, all with their own unique designs..

They would start off with Iron & end up with Daedric - But! I personally think they should be on a leveled list only AFTER you've found the design handbook for them, attach a script that would add the recipes to your list once you've found the designs, could be like the Spell Tomes DLC from Oblivion, you can only unlock certain bows after finding the designs.. you get the idea :)

But, yeah.. Crossbows all the way.

Why would it ruin the feel? We're not talking semi-automated weapons. If we are to expect Bethesda to keep going along the timeline, then there needs to be some kind of brainstorming among the masses. Someone eventually is going to make a firearm. Why not now? Why not set this moment as the moment people move forward? I think it's the perfect time, actually. Skyrim's facing a war and is being overrun by dragons.

well since crossbows are now already in the game, and their animations would be perfect for a rifle, why don't u just make both of these and use the crossbow animations for a flintlock rifle and make two different mods, and perhaps have the rifle be a crossbow replacer as an option for the rifle mod. If you did this I would be so so very very thankful... so so thankful...
