So what are the basic operations, today, to set up fallout 3 ?

I ask because i do not want to pick obsolete or outdated patches / methods. I have already installed fallout script extender, and installed the unofficial patch

can you recommend me a reliable mod manager? Can be Mod Organizer used safely with fallout 3?

sorry for broken english.

Follow the steps in this guide. https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/652876-fallout-3-modding-and-you/

Start and run a vanilla game (no mods). The reason for this is that the game was developed without mods and having any mods active will result in strange things happening during the opening tutorial.

Play the game until just before you leave the vault and make a save. Exit the vault and make another save. This way you can start new games without starting from the very beginning.

"I ask because i do not want to pick obsolete or outdated patches / methods." There really aren't any outdated patches or methods. You need to remember that the game is eight years old and was developed using top of the line equipment from 2008. The game does not run well on modern equipment and you must make some changes in order for the game to run smoothly.

Mod organizer can be used for Fallout 3, however most of the mods for fallout 3 were developed before mod organizer and may not install properly. The same is true for Nexus Mod Manager. You are better off using Fallout Mod Manager for Fallout 3. I use version 0.12.6 without a problem. Some people recommend using a newer version. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/640/?

Never use LOOT to sort your load order. It does not sort Fallout 3 mods correctly. You are better off using B.O.S.S. https://github.com/boss-developers Disregard to notice on the download page, do not use LOOT for Fallout 3.
