I just cannot believe how bad the performance is...

An OC'd i5-4690k and a GTX 1080 with 16GB of RAM... And only LOW settings stop the stutters that occur whenever I am more than 20 feet off the ground and pan the camera.

I. Just. Can't believe it. It's so wrong...

It's literally unplayable whenever I'm on top of a building.

That's just the way Fallout4 is, the engine isn't the best and primary Bosten isn't well optimized.

When getting 60fps+ outside with extreme high modded ini, I'm down to around 45-50, with low dips to 35, in Bosten. When uncapping framerate the game sometimes go from around 120fps+ down to 70, just through the use of high godray settings or the slowly appearing central city.

Some Benchmarks out there show these problems pretty well and mostly the hardware isn't the problem, it's the engine optimization. Especially in Bosten with high draw distances also the cpu gets under high load.

The only way to avoid this is to turn off some of the performance heavy settings, customize draw distances, use enboost, those things... No way around if you can't live with some fps drops or don't want to spend more money on more powerful hardware.

I can just recommend you not to use the predefined Launcher graphics settings and play around with the values in the ini yourself. Gives much better results and you can adapt some settings more precisely.

Otherwise, there's no help for you :-/

Maybe we'll see some engine improvements when Bethesda thinks about creating a completely new one for TES6.

Have you tried the Config tool

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/?

with recommended settings?

It fixes most of the issues with the engine.

And please dont tell me, you´re a "pro" with ini-files, because thats mostly bullshit. The tool adresses so many settings not even listed in any file.

I run FO4 on 1600x900 with high settings on an ancient Nvidia 450 GTS with smooth 30fps, thanks to bilagos config-tool, and all the work he´s putting into it.

And yeah, some settings sound really absurd, because normal thinking would say, thats decreasing performance, but its increasing instead.

If you haven't done so yet (I surmise you haven't, since you keep having stutter) take a look at the different Vivid mods by Hein84. They all contain optimized textures. No plug-ins involved either as they're replacement files.

Those Vivid mods stopped my game from having RAM-spikes (of over 10GB) causing CTD everytime I went to the Boston Common area. Stutter also diminished.

Lots of people have offered all kinds of great technical advice in all of the *multiple* threads you've created complaining about it. We get it, your video card epeen isn't as gloriously magnificent as you feel it should be. I don't know, maybe people in the forums aren't sucking on it enough to satisfy you? Take some viagra and move on.

All performance heavy settings are already off.

Of course I have lowered my predefined launcher graphics... I'm playing on LOW! I get Ultra by default with a 1080...

Future game engines wont help me with Fallout 4.

But I AM a pro with .ini files... NOTHING except LOW gives me a solid 60FPS.

You run Fallout 4 at 900p and 30fps... That is not running Fallout 4...

None of the advice I have received has fixed the issue. Who cares if I can run the game at 1440p ULTRA and 60FPS in the wasteland when I get stutters in Boston at anything but 1080p and LOW... Might as well not be running it.

I am simply amazed I am the only one not just lying down and enjoying the hard f***ing Bethesda is giving PC players with this shitty optimisation. But your hostile reply is typical and quite boring. I'll take it you're one of those people who can't even look a man in the eyes in person and so vent frustration online where it's safe...

Let me guess, you're a red pill fan? A woman with a bit of dominance in her attitude is frightening? :D

Regardless, none of us wrote the game, Bethesda did and they suck at the performance factor. We can't fix that for you and at a certain point you have to accept things and move on.

Since you basically keep repeating the same thing over and over, ever tried to consider that it's on your end? I mean, I don't go round boasting about my system, but I get fluent frame rates with a much less powerful one than yours. On higher settings obviously. So, why don't you go looking where your system is screwing up? Because it's obviously not the game but your machine or configuration. Otherwise all of us would go round bitching and moaning about how bad this game performs.

I think there was enough advice already to determine if the problem is related to in-game settings or not. Cause when correctly adjusted you should get better fps. Maybe not your highly admired 24/7 60fps, but considerable high ones with a gtx1080.

Cause full time 60 fps is just unrealistic and you won't get those in any game, when not using hardware much more powerful than required for maximum settings.

And even if I want to choke you for comments like that...

Ever looked at cpu/gpu usage? Tried to find what's limiting you in those situations? In my case the cpu sometimes gets under pretty heavy load... compared to normal situations and the more steady load of the gpu's.

So maybe go for a software like msi afterburner (+rivastatistic (don't know the whole tag)) and look into that, if not already done...

Would be more productive than crying the whole time about how unpleasant your situation is.

It is the game. If I hit stutter even on low in certain areas on hardware that can eat this game for breakfast then the game is at fault. I don't get stutter everywhere. I can go to Sanctuary and have it running perfectly at ULTRA 1440P. It's any time I climb a building or look around busy areas near Boston. Definitely the game. People need to be hitting Bethesda up about this en masse. It's amazing that I am being scolded by the community. Why are you all so ok with it?
