Making of a modder (part 1)

I know no-one will probably say this but you are kind of wasting your time with such basic tutorials. There are already more than enough resources available covering your "rough plan."

It would be more useful were you to cover specific areas of modding such as scripting and creating new models rather than covering basic material.

I appreciate the effort you are putting into this and it is because of this I feel compelled to warn you of the disappointment you may face in the future.

Here are links to tutorials about the subjects you have laid out (in the event my words need backing):

Sadly being a good modder doesn't necessarily make one a good teacher, really good tutorials are few and far between, so many miss out vital information or assume a level of knowledge above the level of the tutorial. :(

One of the best ways to learn is to pull apart and change other peoples mods, so much can be learned from seeing what others have done.

However, with skyrim aging the way it is and the new release of SSE... many Skyrim-modding gamers are coming back, with the nexus on a decline due to modders being tired of so many hours spent on the original that they do not wish to put forth more time into SSE. Therefore the population of mods is less than ideal.
This gives some of us veteran players the chance to learn how to mod through a "blogger" that we have known through the site. Myself included, many of us may just try modding, instead of always playing. I have downloaded the creation kit and have been dabbling.... Let's see if this sparks a new surge of creation. :)

As I tried modding myself a couple weeks ago All I know is the relevance:

All tutorials are garbage if you dont have a friend modder who can point on mistakes that will NEVER be mentioned.

Testing and fixing bugs that YOU never encounter and "other people" do.

Call me when you find someone willing to help you out.

Hi just wanted to say good luck with this venture, I do have a suggestion or two.

In your rough plan the first thing i would do is make a list of programs needed (ie 3ds max, nifscope etc) and how to obtain them and how to install them correctly (which I know is tricky because not everyone has the same computers etc) but something i think is needed for complete beginners ...yes there are youtube vids out there however some may not be up to date or new versions released, conflicts between the programs depending on versions used etc and because it's probably better to have it all in one place for complete beginners.

also I'd add making a weapon, armor etc including adding effects (ie blood effects or glowing blade etc), adjusting for different body types sizes etc (unp body or cbbe, seraphim etc) and possibly modifying weapon/ armor and making from scratch.

Also show when things go wrong and how to fix.

just a couple of ideas/ suggestions but I know a lot of work and can be tricky to get your head around.

Again good luck I hope to see it all come to fruition soon XD Edited by Kaitzijin

What I think would be really great is if you could record it as you progress or even better stream it on something like Twitch where interested people could follow along and actually see it being done step by step. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more.

I have a quest tutorial posted on the nexus forums but we have no dedicated tutorial forum so good luck finding it.
