Burnout122812
For a year now I have been doing my own manual load order with no real issues or loading problems. Since I have over 250 plugin's now I am looking at the LOOT option to handle my load order. My questions are just how reliable is it? I know there are some plugin's that LOOT has a problem recognizing proper placement but overall does it do what it should do...help minimize crashes due to conflicts and slow mod loading issues. Or should I just keep doing what i'm doing and manually fix my own load order?
gamefever
Well for one when I have used Loot with Fallout 4, I've had to change the Read Only Status on the Load Order File, kinda of annoying really since I never have to do that with Skyrim. I basically avoid using mods that need a bunch of Masters not worth it. No idea if at some point there will be an established system for stuff like Power Armor and it needs it badly but at least it seems like other Armors and Weapons have a system that works really well too, sure would be nice if it extended over to PA. crawe1x
My personal experience is that LOOT spots the masters just fine (then again, NMM normally highlights and manages any problems with masters in the load order anyway). Now maybe I'm just not using LOOT properly, but in my opinion it is weak at picking up certain hidden conflicts. It's kind of 'binary' and isn't so good at finessing the load order so that you get minimum conflicts, bugged save games, etc. My advice is to use LOOT first, but to then go back through your load order very carefully and tinker with it manually. mac2636
Gambit's and Wax2k's load order guidelines have always worked significantly better for me than LOOT. Also, after adding a new mod I always open FO4Edit and manually check the conflicts and overrides to make sure nothing gets changed unless I want it to. Burnout122812
I have used Gambit's guidelines this whole time and so far they have worked excellently for me. I guess LOOT is not necessary if you know what you are doing. And I have never had a issue or CTD's with my manual load order. I think what I was just wondering is if LOOT's masterlist load order speeds up mod load up. Apparently it does not. With 250 esm's and esp's loading a save game takes some time even with a high end PC. I'll just stick to what I have been doing. Not a big deal.
