grandamle91
Is there a log file or something that would tell me what is causing fo4 to crash?
JimmyRJump
Windows Event Viewer, under Administrative Tools, maybe?
grandamle91
that was the first thing i checked and there wasn't anything under it for around the time i was playing
cossayos
Windows Event Viewer, under Administrative Tools, maybe? Windows Event viewer is as generic as they come. I had Bluescreen problems for a while and the Event viewer steered me in the wrong direction. It was a heating problem but Event Viewer wanted me to believe it's CPU related. That said, I get random CTDs also. Mostly when being in workshop mode but sometimes at transitions. Can't lay my finger on the underlying reasons and never asked because I wouldn't even know where to start.
grandamle91
Mine are all completely random
JimmyRJump
Most crashes are V-RAM related (my own assessment of my own CTD situation, mind). FO4 handles V-RAM very, very badly. Those that aren't V-RAM related are mostly due to mods that have been uninstalled still influencing the game in later stages because stuff gets baked into saves. cossayos
For virtual ram I have 10gb on its own ssd. Video ram I have 4gb.And ram 12gb. Tonight I left it running for the hell of it and it ran for 16 hours and no crash If you leave it running in the same non crashing spot, it keeps running. It's transitions or actions that make it crash. Just a few minutes ago in VATS, in my case. Because it switched perspectives to the VATS cinematics, I assume. grandamle91
It doesn't matter if Im playing or not. Its ctd before when I had it on pause, pitboy, just standing, never mattered what I did
cossayos
I you call up the pip boy, I get crashes too after a while. But if you just let it run like a screen saver, it won't crash.
