gameboytj
(contains spoilers who have not finished the blind betrayal quest) I hate how Maxson Treated Danse after knowing that he is a synth. The thing is though Danse put his life on the line for the brotherhood, and this is the thanks he gets? He deserves to die? That is pretty evil and xenophobic... I feel maxson is nothing more than a traitor to Lyon's ways...I wish to either overthrow maxson, or create a Rebellion against Maxson and recruit soldiers to defeat the corrupted Brotherhood. (i consider them corrupt), also no not all synths are evil... Look at Nick, look at Curie, look at Sturges, etc. Are they a threat? No... So why is Danse any different? Plus if the institute is gone, there is no way they could brainwash him.I don't care if danse isn't a real human. He was a good soldier and i refuse to kill someone who is honorable.Something Maxson seems to lack...Sorry about the rant, i just wish i could either overthrow maxson or build a rebellion to return to the way of Lyons. Athanasa
Another potential workaround to the issue is to just not let the Brotherhood find out Danse is a Synth. Take the Institute data to Surges (spoiler: also a synth, unsure of he knows this). Surges goes through the data and finds out Danse is a Synth and tells the player. The player can then choose to reveal this to Danse or not. Surges then offers to remove the data about rogue synths from the holodisk, which you can accept. You them give the 'safe' disk to the Brotherhood, and it skips the whole Danse thing. Mind you, Danse still goes to hide in the bunker and try to kill himself if you tell him. Even if you persuade him not to, he'll ask to avoid Brotherhood areas for their own safety. Also, think of it from a politics view. Maxson was pretty much forced to do what he did - would he have been able to contain the information about Danse if he wanted? Very unlikely. In order to maintain his status as an unquestioned leader he had to act. To prevent a greying of morals and goals for the Brotherhood he could not make an exception. Let's face it, internal power struggles involving people with power armour flying a highly explosive sausage is bad news. Do I like what Maxson did? No. Do I understand why he did it? Yes. genolune
What is a generation 3 synth? Based on the storyline, since Danse has DNA, I've come to the conclusion that Generation 3 synths aren't robots, but clones or created humans with cybernetic implants (the synth component). We see them made in the Institute, with Shaun's untainted DNA as a base and that they weren't detectable by the Brotherhood (although you would think a synth component would show up in X-Rays but I don't think Bethesda thought that far into it even though the Brotherhood has X-Ray machines based on the X-Ray lights and film in the clinic in the Prydwen, if I remember correctly). In which case, unless he needed it to live, remove the cybernetics and Danse is a normal human, just made in a factory instead of naturally. Pretty sure it's on an Institute terminal somewhere. Basically magic - you'd think they'd require food simply for the biomass required to heal from wounds. genolune
Except Glory has a bed so she sleeps. To have living DNA and tissue, you would need food, water, oxygen, etc. for living. I don't think DNA can be used to make non-organic material like the plastic/rubber skin like Gen 2 synths. Like I said, Bethesda probably didn't think that far into it. Jeffman12
Hypothetically, if you have a machine capable of deciphering the 'instructions' DNA provides, you could create a duplicate from inorganic materials, or reconstruct a person's unmarred appearance. There are more factors, of course, this doesn't account for body fat or muscle density, or certain epigenetic factors(These affect personality and body, and are what I consider the final nail in the coffin for the realism of 3D printing human adults) But I suppose if you can get that far you can just make some best guesses and emulate them. genolune
I like to think they are making Terminators. Also, Sturges as a synth was a wasted opportunity to go more into all that, but I digress. Back to the main topic, what about New Vegas's Brotherhood rules about the Chains That Bind? ie Elder Maxson should only give orders to Paladin Danse who then gives it to you leading up to Blind Betrayal. Basically he could be ousted for not going down the chain of command properly just like someone would be disciplined for going up the chain of command improperly. Just a thought.
