Pistols..?

So I was watching Supernatural, and for some odd reason, it reminded me of Skyrim. Which got me to thinking, why don't we have flintlocks or other old guns? I could see it being an anti-stealth ranged weapon... Of course, this is far too difficult without the CK.

 

But anyway, I think it'd be an interesting idea. Maybe even add silver bullets for those pesky undead killers. It'd add an interesting aspect for a type of witch-hunter, don'tcha think?

I was thinking that for the past few days myself. xD

 

My idea: Dwemer Pistols/Rifles.

 

Dwemer... highly advanced with machines with AI and all those gears.

 

My idea, be able to create firearms. They will cost a lot of ores, a ton of gears and metal pieces from dwemer ruins, and soul stones. A mana pistol/rifle basically.

 

Both will be stronger than bows but have limited use... you have to keep recharging them basically.

 

Rifles will be much stronger but really slow and give a big bang while pistols will be slightly slower than bows but stronger. :D

 

I dunno, just what I was thinking.

 

Oh and they need both bullets and soul gems. Soul gems as the gunpowder, bullets as... bullets.

Well i already created a musket (see gallery link in my sig) ... and wait until the CK, will try then to get it into the game.

Should be no problem to change the model a bit to make a pistol.

Well, if I may suggest, this is a magical world, with different rules. Given that magic allows the spontaneous generation and subsequent direction of combustion and other energies, I propose that we take realism and chuck it out the window. Plausibility, verisimilitude, sure; but realism? Pfeh. ^_^

 

I would see a gun (let's define it as a device that launches a projectile through energetic means-- in the real world "energetic" normally means "chemically explosive", but isn't necessarily limited to that) as a tool that would allow an (untrained in magical schools) individual to, at its most basic level, project a lump of metal at lethal velocity. Higher levels and improvements might allow for enchantment damage (comparable to a staff), and expandable to ludicrous levels, because games like this are never fun unless you have a chance to go completely over the top. ^_^

 

I'd also consider making Pistols poorer aim than Rifles, just to maintain some illusion of balance. Different players will want different kids of guns, too, a mage will look more appropriate with a small gun than a fighter.

I wouldn't worry about it.

If someone does decide to make a firearm like a flintlock pistol.. people will find a way to copy that in a similar fashion but change it into something entirely different LIKE a regular pistol for example.

Although I do not fully support this.. it's half-half for me because this does break the lore completely.

Remember: I do not fully support the modern day or anime gun style guns.. a pistol like a flintlock would be fine.

I imagine different bullets would come with this as well; Musket Balls, Silver Bullets(does more dmg to undead, werewolves and vampires for example), Poisoned Bullets etc. (Maybe even oiled bullets, incendiary rounds that, when shot, light on fire and do fire dmg)

This would indeed be pretty cool, I'd love to see different versions of these pistols as well; old kind of revolvers, 1 shot pistols, rifles etc.
