Kodiak412
Have you gone back to the agency to speak with Nick. He will ask you to tell him all about the missing kid and the events leading up to it. However if you used console commands it could be broken and you may need to revert to an earlier save. Good luck.
Drkman85024
I tried talking to him before i resorted to trying to use things like Commands. I've even tried loading a earlier save and the same thing still happens, the minute Unlikely Valentine finishes I try to talk to Nick to start Getting A Clue but all he does is say random quotes. Does anyone know if there is a command or hell a mod that enables you to start specific quests?
roxasskull
I have the same issue, he just sits in the other desk after going to his office, doesn't go to the chair across from me to start getting a clue
bengi1983
I am getting the same problem after returning to the agency and talking to Ellie. Nick sits at the opposite desk and the quest getting a clue never starts. he just sits there and Ellie sits at the desk in front of me. no matter what I do the quest getting a clue never starts. my last option is to restart the game and see if that fixes my problem. AeonsLegend
Are you guys running the latest version of Fallout 4? I use the version before it and have not had this issue.
IamMichael86
After extensive trial and error I've found that for me the issue was the mod "Kellogs Mercenary House" To use the mod successfully w/out breaking the game I had to disable it before starting the Main Quest: Unlikely Valentine and enable it before leaving Nic Valentine's office after he interrogates you about Shawns kidnapping during the following Main Quest: Getting a Clue. This was tested successfully on a PS4 while using both CreationClub and free mods. jjb54
R U using the mod: Depravity - A Harmless Bit of Fun ?? If you are, that might be it, as I had the exact same issue with Nick V. I actually ran into a serious number of bugs w/ that mod. I finally just had to totally remove it and start over.
JimmyRJump
Getting a Clue quest I.D. is MQ105. To start the quest type the following into the console: setstage MQ105 10 and hit enter. That should make you get the message Nick wants to talk to you in his office. Check quest stages on the FO4 wiki.
Karulus
@jjb54I have played with Depravity installed and been able to start and finish Getting a Clue uneventfully. On my last 2 playthroughs, I have not, despite all the suggestions proffered here. Fortunately, Depravity has an alternate quest route (Where oh where can my baby be?) by which one can skip Getting a Clue and launch Reunions. I have used that option successfully. Depravity has so much other wonderful content that I would hate to think of playing without it. At this point, I would hate to play with ANY mods without having the console available to me. It seems there is always some point of progression one needs to nudge forward with it.
